Has Jackson said he's going to be the next big star in the league or does he just have him #1 on his board? He has a team that can't play defense and has an elite scorer so wouldn't it make sense he has the better defensive and rebounding center as his top guy rather than the elite scoring big?
I don't recall seeing Cam state Towns was going to be the next big star. I don't see the point in exaggerating things to try proving some point.
Sure I think it's probably a bit short sighted to immediately dismiss any style comparisons between Harden & Winslow, but what I've seen (granted I haven't read 100% of the forum) is Cam touting Towns as his top pick, top choice for the Wolves (especially due to his fit on the team) and pointing out his strengths and potential other strengths (mid range game, etc).

Except he's not treating those as potential strengths. He's already giving Towns credit for things like his mid-range game he's barely used and his post game that's only been there a select few games. He has yet to admit any weaknesses in Towns' game that could put doubt in what he could become at the next level.

You've literally posted everything there is to post about Towns. You've described him at times in a way that doesn't show any weaknesses (post game, mid-range game, free throws, defense, rebounding, high level of athleticism). You've done everything short of saying he's going to be the next big thing in the game. Don't give me that you not posting anything bullshit. You fucking dug deep and found out he skipped his junior year in high school like that makes a damn difference in his development and should be another reason to boost his draft stock as he theoretically has more room to grow than the guys who are actually younger then him. You are the fucking bandwagon driver for him. Stop acting like a martyr.
Honestly, I think you are making that whole High School post more than it really was. You treated it like he was trying to be deceptive or something when I didn't see that at all. I don't think he left out his age trying to make his case stronger. It had a lot to do with his work ethic in school on top of basketball which is what is impressive.

Alright, everyone settle down. We're all entitled to our opinions on these guys.
I'm still thinking Towns is atop my board based on need/fit and skill set. But honestly long-term I'd be happy with most of the top guys and I think almost any of them (outside of Frank the Tank) could ultimately be the best player in this draft in 5 years....which is why I wouldn't be opposed to trading down if we were able to get an extra asset if we land #1 or 2 and get a nice offer to trade down a pick or two.

Then you should re-read the post because a significant point he was trying to make is that Towns has more room to grow than his peers because of the fact that he only played three years in high school and not 4 so he theoretically had less development time than them going into college when in fact he is older than all of them.

Can this team afford to swing and miss on amother guy with potential? Or does it need a player that they can plug in and produce some numbers right away . Towns has the potential, Okafor will give u numbers on the offensive end right away . Where is this team in its rebuilding process?

I don't think there is anything wrong with having a strong opinion on a topic or a player its a lot more enjoyable discussion when people can have a civil discourse.
I know Towns hasn't done a lot in this game but I'd take him over Okafor all day. Why? He looks longer looks better on D looks like he loves contact on both ends better passer and looks longer. I just don't think the scoring Okafor provides is going to be so much more valuable compared to the defense and rebounding that Towns could provide in addition to being able to give you some nice production on offense. The guy shoots 80% from the FT line I think he will be able to hit some jumpers in his career. Okafor is a nice player I won't mind if we get him either like someone else said his floor is pretty high.
Winslow forced some things and was less impressive after my earlier post but I think he still is a pretty nice player. I can think of some pretty good 2nd fiddles (Dwade lol sorry couldn't help it) so that's really not much of a knock on Winslow. I could see Winslow becoming an offensive star and he looks like a rugged defensive player also. Duke has more talent than they get credit for imo. Of course the knock on them was defense and it looks like they have turned that up in the games I have seen.

IMO you go for swing and miss within reason. This team isn't that close. It has nice pieces but not much is sure.

"Safe" picks bust too. You draft the guy with the most skill and ability. That's the part that needs debated.

Towns making a nice impact on this game Hayes didn't even test him and then when he did Towns was right there and took a charge.
