Maybe not as bad as passing on Steph, but potentially in that neighborhood. All because they have this quickly becoming outdated view of how the game should be played today. I'm already bummed out.
How about when the Wolves passed up Giannis for Shabazz Muhammad and Rudy Gobert for Gorgui Dieng in the same draft?
It's worse than that. They passed up Giannis for Bazz after trading down when they could have picked McCollum. But it's even worse. They didn't pass up Gobert for Gorgui. They could have had both, but instead sold for cash the pick they could have used to draft Gobert.
I forgot about McCollum and completely missed the cash for pick part. Thanks for reminding me that the draft was even more embarrassing than I thought. I know Flip loved Oladipo (as did I) and tried to trade up for him, but it seems we had no other players we liked. It felt even after that draft that the Wolves picked Shabazz because they felt like they had to rather than because he was a good fit or because he had great upside.
I discussed Bazz in my lunch with Flip. In fact, it was my email to Flip complaining about his Bazz pick that led to him calling me and inviting me to lunch. He loved Bazz and though he had great upside. Obviously, he was wrong.
Apparently, talk about Wolves pick swap with Charlotte is heating up. Interestingly, it sounds like the Hornets are interested in LeMello Ball, not Wiseman. What if the Wolves can swap 1 for 3 plus Miles Bridges and #32 and still draft James Wiseman. Cam would end up levitating far above Target Center.
Right now, I'm thinking the Wolves will swap picks with either Charlotte or Chicago and draft Obi Toppin. I suspect that the Wolves front office has Obi Toppin #1 on their draft board. I suspect they have Wiseman at #2, Haliburton #3 and Okongwu #4.

I don't see any way James Wiseman gets by Golden State, and if by chance he did Gersson Rosas would crush all of our hearts by taking somebody else.

I'm in full pessimist mode.
You're right about Wiseman not getting by Golden State. I was really pessimistic last night. But I'm once again deceiving myself into believing the Wolves front office will get this right. Then, as always, I'll end up getting my heart crushed.
After watching Rachel's interview of Rosas yesterday, I'm inclined to believe the Wolves won't take Edwards or Ball unless it's part of trading down. And I now have some hope that the Wolves might draft and keep Wiseman. But again, I'm probably just setting myself up for disappointment.

Yep, Golden State isn't going to make that mistake. Wiseman goes #2 if he's there. Maybe if we trade with Charlotte we can still get Edwards, or maybe even move down a 2nd time.
