Draft Day GDT

Post by kekgeek »

Happy draft day everyone. One of my favorite days of the year. Can't wait for the overactions, disappointments and calling for Rosas to be fired tomorrow.

We all have our opinions and we all have who we love. We all hit on players like cam with Tyler Herro and we all miss on players like cam with Nik Stauskas. Whoever the Wolves draft tomorrow I'll keep an open mind and hope the player(s) the Wolves draft help the Wolves take a step forward as an organization.

All eyes north!!!!!

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/30300355/nba-draft-2020-no-1-pick-timberwolves-see-opportunity-pressure

"I think it's much easier to predict failure than it is to predict success," Sikka says. "Our goal, in many cases, is to eliminate people on the basis of failure characteristics.

"As opposed to saying someone is going to be great, I would just like to be able to predict that [a player] is more likely to not be good."

I believe the #1 failure characteristic in determining whether a player will succeed or flounder is found between the ears. It is mental toughness. All NBA draftees spout they have a great work ethic. The term is just so banal and trite. It's like someone going into a job interview, and saying they are a team player and possess great communication skills. When it's all said and done, I don't think work ethic determines whether a player will succeed. I believe success is tied to how someone responds to adversity and challenges. It's mental toughness.

And anyone can say they are mentally tough. I believe the facets of being mentally tough are maturity, personality, and intelligence. Without writing an essay, Haliburton ticks all the boxes and passes the Timberwolves front office methodology to "eliminate people on the basis of failure characteristics."

Would we shock the world and draft Haliburton #1? I think he is a top 5 pick.

If Haliburton cannot be drafted by trading down, we take him #1, and let Bill Simmons have another cardiac "Whoa" moment!

Bill Simmons: "Whoa...Whoa!!!!" <surprised Pikachu face>

Bill Simmons: "Rece, I need medical help!!!"

For the uninitiated...

I think there has already been a pre-emptive meltdown by a good portion of us. Now we can just watch the trainwreck we already know will happen without having to go through the 7 stages of grief.

What's everyone drinking tonight? I'll have my glass of warm tap water.

30 years of disappointment. Do we really think tonight's results will change that? Of course we will. We're gluttons for punishment. I'll be having Knob Creek Maple on the rocks.

IF that's true...it could signal Wiseman is going #1 to someone which I think is what will happen. It would also mean the Wolves likely have some worthwhile offers for #1 which I'm starting to believe is the case.

Interesting deal to make before the draft happens. Are the Knicks trying to move up from 8 or make some other move?

Watch James Wiseman's name get called first overall to the Timberwolves, me get excited with newfound confidence in this organization, and then hear that they traded his rights away just seconds later. I'm trying to prepare myself for that.
