My prediction on it is that if we are going to end up with JVG or Thibs then this will get done by the end of the month. No reason to drag this out as they are the two best option. If we drag this til after the playoffs then it will probably be someone else.

My ideal scenario would be JVG as POBO and Dave Jeorger as our head coach.

You'd rather have a coach who hasn't coached in almost a decade over Thibs? I know you're not really on board with Thibs, but that doesn't sound like the best option.

In a perfect world, we get both of them. JVG in the FO and Thibs on the hardwood. That's not completely out of the question either.

Like I've said, I wouldn't hate Thibodeau, but I would love Van Gundy. Sounds like if one of these 2 get the job, it will be for both roles.

One thing I can say about Thibodeau - The team would win a ton more games next year. But I think he would be a rather short term solution. After 3 years the shine would wear off and we would be looking again. He would just wear people out - players, assistants, ownership, administrative staff.

Other than the obvious of them actually meeting with Wolves search committee I found this the most interesting. Obviously nobody completely just does both roles but it hasn't seen as upfront (at least as its reported) as obvious that these duel role guys are hiring a front office person. SVG is the man in Detroit but wasn't Otis Smith the decision maker for a lot of SVG's time in Orlando? They pretty much get the same duo with SVG having more power but it seems obvious they have a pretty good working relationship. This is gonna be an interesting few weeks.

Never mind about Otis Smith and SVG smith is the d-league coach Bower is the GM.

Jon K and Souhan with an interesting podcast on how things went down the last couple days and who will be the next Wolves coach. Worth a listen there are some interesting things and some IMO hilarious stuff.

A couple things I found interesting.

Souhan says he has a mutual friend with Thibs and that friend says Thibs wants the Timverwolves job.

Jon says he thinks this things will move quickly.

I thought it was interesting how they broke down how things played out for Glen and also how they broke down the field of candidates.

It is interesting to me that Van Gundy seems to be going hard after this job. I did not expect him to really go after the job. I thought he was probably done coaching but maybe he is compelled to fulfill Flip's vision which he knows well about. I have this feeling that Glen is going to go for JVG if he really is enamored with what SVG is doing in Detroit as reports suggest. But who knows what Glen feels about Thibs. A JVG/Thibs partnership would be fantastic, say if Jeff was hesitant to get back to the coaching grind.

These are the core of my concerns as well. JVG always struck me as a disciplined coach with an overall positive demeanor. Thibs seems a bit more on the crusty side. I favor JVG, have all year. I think he fully understands today's game and would adjust fine.

I get the concerns with Thibs but is there any reason to think he may be able to learn from his previous experience and be a better coach? Mitchell didn't change from his previous job but I am willing to see if Thibs will in Minnesota.
