So, is it sustainable? And what brought on yesterday's aggressiveness? I'm going to suggest two possibilities.

1) His back has been bothering him, but felt much better yesterday.

2) The team leader (Rubio) called him out publicly for being "lazy" and exhorted him to look for his own shot.

I think is might be a little of both, but I think #2 is the more likely reason. If it is, that's a very good thing...this team needs a leader (other than KG) and Ricky is the most likely candidate. If Wiggins responded to Ricky's comments, I see that as a very positive development for this team.

I really believe Martin not being there had something to do with it. Kmart isn't the easiest guy to play with on either end of the floor.

Wiggins and Martin aren't playing many minutes together so I doubt Martin being gone was the/one of the reasons.

They're both playing well over half the game. There has to be quite a bit of overlap.

Not enough that Wiggins goes into a shell when they're not together. I just think of all the possible reasons why Wiggins has been so passive that Wiggins himself, mentally and/or physically, is far more likely to be the answer than a few minutes with Martin each game.

Cool's pinning Wiggins' struggles on Martin... Almost as silly as people pinning Towns' development on KG. Why not look directly at the player for both good or bad? It actually can be that simple.

I'm not pinning all of Wig's struggles on Martin. But you can't deny that it's easier for Wiggins to slip into his passive mode when Martin's on the court with him. Martin is much more aggressive in looking for his offense and Andrew tends to defer to him.

I personally think this team is better without Martin now and moving forward. He is a good player, but not the type of player this team needs at this stage.

I get where you are coming from. I am a Martin supporter but it was interesting to see what the team looked like without him. I thought Bazz played alright but had a couple tough calls go against him. He didn't play well enough I was screaming at the TV for him to get in or stay in the game either and I am a big Bazz guy. Prince ended up getting more minutes and showed he had a little something left on the offensive end which was big.

A couple things about Martin. He hasn't asked out of this situation and he easily could have last year. Who asks put now this year unless things go REALLY south because of Flip passing away and the vets came or stayed because of Flip? I don't want to overstate that but I do think there will be some of that effect. At this point Martin might be coming off the bench but the dude is getting plenty of minutes and putting up his usual production. So that probably keeps him plenty happy. If his minutes get reduced a lot maybe that changes idk.

Which brings us to the next point. The Wolves are sitting at 3-2. What if this team does stay in a playoff race? A 20ppg scoring vet even with the flaws Martin has is likely to help a team towards that. We all want to see young guys develop and sure Martin blocks some minutes but at times those guys don't seem ready...yet. Ultimately I think having Martin around is a good problem to have especially considering his ability to hit outside shots which is still a need for this team and if we traded Martin for a draft pick etc it would leave a big hole there. If we do move him you would think we should be able to get something worthwhile for him. If not might as well just hold onto him even if he opts out and leaves. Maybe we could get something in a sign and trade. Maybe Martin wants to stay as a killer bench scorer. Idk it's hard to say. I heard when asked about Martin AP guy says he wasn't sure about Martin when he came here but he found that he is actually like able smart and seems like a good guy. He gets the feeling of Martin ever wanted out it would be handled well and privately. He is really a bit of a mystery that he is still here. That's probably why he is a bit confounding and somewhat polarizing among wolves fans.
