Do you prefer to keep Covington until he doesn't have as much value when we're not looking like a playoff team this year regardless? If so, I get it. I like Covington, but I think he's gone by this time next year and I hope the value is that good

If Rosas wasn't willing to trade Covington to move up to select Garland, then you can rest easily knowing he wouldn't trade him for Simons -- in my opinion, a lesser-talented guard prospect. I think your intentions with the trade idea are solid -- move Covington for some young, promising players -- however, I am clearly not as high on Simons and Collins as you are. This likely isn't a disagreement in philosophy, but rather player evaluation.
Keep in mind just several pages prior in this thread I proposed a similarly structured trade, but I think the players I included are just better than what Portland could provide. So, our thinking isn't too far off here.

Yeah, I've read your stuff on here and generally agree with your thoughts. Totally agree on garland. Would prefer him to Simons and we didn't do roco there, so maybe I should aim a tad higher on my proposals.

Yep, I think you need to aim more than a tad higher than Simons. I see the athletic talent in Simons, but he never played college ball and didn't do anything impressive as a rookie last season. And I don't see him as an exceptional talent.
I loved Cam's idea of Covington to the Nets for Allen and Prince. But I think Cam is aiming too high - although better to aim high than low. I would like to think that Rosas has already made Cam's proposal. I just don't see the Nets going for it, although you never know if you don't ask.
My question is whether there is something in between your aim and Cam's. I suspect there's a good Covington deal somewhere out there for the Wolves. I just haven't thought of one yet.
