Lol ok... maybe you haven't followed simons at all but he and Collins both would have been lottery picks this year. Do you prefer to keep Covington until he doesn't have as much value when we're not looking like a playoff team this year regardless? If so, I get it. I like Covington, but I think he's gone by this time next year and I hope the value is that good

Im tempted by drunk's idea. Simons is going to be a stud pg in the league. There were rumblings that we were interested in him at last year's draft and I would have no problem if we drafted him. The kid is talented and I'm predicting that he will be a sought after free agent after his rookie deal is up.

Collins is a solid modern big. He will never be a star but he is a solid rotation big.

I get that we tend to overvalue covington here. But simmons could be well worth it 2-3 years from now.

That said, portland probably say no. They value simons and see him as a future piece. Covington fits their team now as cov seems to fit every team with his skillset. But he wont make them a finals team.

If Rosas wasn't willing to trade Covington to move up to select Garland, then you can rest easily knowing he wouldn't trade him for Simons -- in my opinion, a lesser-talented guard prospect. I think your intentions with the trade idea are solid -- move Covington for some young, promising players -- however, I am clearly not as high on Simons and Collins as you are. This likely isn't a disagreement in philosophy, but rather player evaluation.

Keep in mind just several pages prior in this thread I proposed a similarly structured trade, but I think the players I included are just better than what Portland could provide. So, our thinking isn't too far off here.

Yeah, I've read your stuff on here and generally agree with your thoughts. Totally agree on garland. Would prefer him to Simons and we didn't do roco there, so maybe I should aim a tad higher on my proposals.

Yep, I think you need to aim more than a tad higher than Simons. I see the athletic talent in Simons, but he never played college ball and didn't do anything impressive as a rookie last season. And I don't see him as an exceptional talent.

I loved Cam's idea of Covington to the Nets for Allen and Prince. But I think Cam is aiming too high - although better to aim high than low. I would like to think that Rosas has already made Cam's proposal. I just don't see the Nets going for it, although you never know if you don't ask.

My question is whether there is something in between your aim and Cam's. I suspect there's a good Covington deal somewhere out there for the Wolves. I just haven't thought of one yet.

That's funny that you mention the nets. I was thinking them also but for Allen and levert, but that's another one that the nets probably wouldn't do. I'll admit, I was guilty of a knee jerk reaction after seeing Simons put up 20 in the 1st quarter the other night and hearing about his 37 point game last year

I still think its going to be golden state for dlo.

we could be seeing

Dlo
Culver
Wiggs
Vonleh
KAT

as the starting group in the 2h of this season or next year.

I honestly think we dodged a bullet there and still appeased Kat by trying to get him. If Dlo was making what Covington was and it was a one for one trade, then sure absolutely, but he's not and I think we'll have way better pg options next year.

I'm all for trading Covington for a couple 1sts (2020 and 2022) and one young player with upside. Do you guys think we could get these three pieces still at this point? (I do). I'm good with one more "developmental" building year in rosas first year and then have the assets to get an absolute stud in the draft and an absolute stud in free agency... one has to be a pg and other bpa.
