Remember when his name along with Jason Richardson was floated in the Jimmy Butler trade? I think I'd prefer that deal to what we ultimately ended up with (although the full story hasn't been written yet).
Sets great screens, makes good passes, has some post game if needed, expanding his range a bit, rebounds, can defend smaller guys in space, and protects the paint. The Heat have done an outstanding job with this kid.
All the reports are they refused to give up Bam. They wanted a Richardson, Olynk, lotto protected 1st for him (they didn't make the playoffs last year, obviously Jimmy would of helped)

If the Heat were ultimately willing to give up Bam for Butler and Thibs declined to take the deal, then add it to the list of blunders by Wolves front offices. But I read somewhere that Riley would not include Bam in any deal for Butler. We'll never know. What we do know is that Bam is a great player and a cornerstone of a Heat team that could end up winning the NBA championship this season. Rather than look back, I'm looking ahead to drafting the next Bam Adebayo. Who? You guessed it - Okongwu.

So that's 6 out of how many people drafted in that same time period? So we just have to be near flawless at prospect evaluation for a rebuild through the draft to work. Got it. 6/180 (3 years in this case) is a 3% chance to hit that caliber of player and we don't develop players well hence the "if our prospects follow the same timeline our high end young talent had".
I guess I don't follow the 6/180 part.
Wiggins and Towns were chosen #1 (and not #30) for a reason. Both were given max contracts for a reason. So why are we comparing them to RJ Hunter or Nikola Milutinov?

Here is what is even more depressing to think about. At one point, we rostered THREE consecutive #1 picks - Anthony Bennett, Andrew Wiggins, and KAT. No one but KAT has amounted to much and even he has a ton to prove. Now we are about ready to add a 4th #1 pick to our roster in the past 8 years and the playoffs still seem like a long ways off.

The Cavs had a run of 4 #1 overall picks and they have 1 championship to show for it. I guess that Wiggins for Love deal worked out for them...and Love was a big! :)

There's 180 players that were drafted in the 3 drafts those 6 were drafted in. Even if you take out the entire second round which we know can still on occasion land a star that drops it down to 6 out of 90 picks. I'm sure there are a couple others from those drafts but at the end of the day we are talking a very low percentage end up as good as those 6 you mentioned as early as they became that good. You responded to my point about not always going the route of the draft and that people we do draft will start to be comparable in age difference to Towns as people had previously been upset about when we got Jimmy and that age difference between him and Towns. So you threw out 6 names out of 180 players drafted that disprove my point hence the pretty much flawless drafting we need to do to not be in the same situation where Towns is getting ready to leave by the time this young player is starting to enter his prime.

Heard sacramento was offering bagley and 12 to warriors for 2. Why not deal that for 1 for bagley and 12. He has had some bad luck with injuries but bagley was a stud in college. If possible maybe can just do a straight up swap for hield and bagley for the number one and james johnson to make money work. I think bagley will figure it out. How bad is his foot injury?

Denver may not win this series but they have a bright future . The start of this game has been entertaining.
I fucking hate the Clippers.

Both hypothetical deals are enticing -- Bagley/12 and Bagley/Hield -- but is either enough to push the envelope for the Wolves? They get better, sure, but by how much? That's what gives me major pause on a trade like that. They also take on the risk of making that trade and then a James Wiseman or Anthony Edwards -- or other -- goes on to be a multiple-time All-Star in this league whereas Bagley/12 or Bagley/Hield likely never get to that level even though they are very gifted, very talented themselves.
While Minnesota should explore all avenues and do their due diligence, I think it's pretty clear what they should do. Either you're able to acquire a star player in the form of Ben Simmons, Devin Booker, or Bradley Beal -- or you keep the pick and draft the player you think will become a star player.

I tend to agree with you on this, Cam. I might be more open than you to trading down, but I wouldn't even consider the Bagley deal for two reasons. First, trading all the way down to 12 would probably put the Wolves out of the running for one of what I'd consider the next tier of players who would be good fits for the Wolves - Okongwu, Deni and Vassell. Second, I'm not impressed with Bagley at all. He's averaged 14.8 points and only 7.6 rebounds per games in his first two seasons while hitting less than 50% of this FG attempts and less than 30% of his threes. He averaged less than a block per game. Moreover, all his stats except his free-throw percentage went down between his first and second seasons. You don't trade a #1 pick for someone like that. And while I've always liked Hield, he's just another defensively challenged 3-point shooter at a sub-all star caliber level. I'd like to have him on the team to add 3-point fire power off the bench, but not as one of two pieces in exchange for the top pick in the draft.
I'm absolutely certain the Warriors won't do either of those deals. They're too smart for that and I hope our front office is too.
