Apparently the rockets are the frontrunners now with a gordon and draft pick package. They are also looking to the kings to offload salary (probably dieng).

Ewww.

If any of this is true, those draft picks better be unprotected and be 5 years down the line.

Doesn't sound credible to me.

Im not as down on eric gordon as a lot here are. The guy is a pretty solid player who average 18ppg in 32mins and shoots 8.5 3's per game. He actually fits nicely to what we need. I get he is 30 years old and had an injury history. Butler and lavine both have injury history as well. If we can add nene and 2 first round picks and dump dieng to another team, it is a worthwhile deal to consider.

i like crazy's idea of draft picks being unprotected and 5 years down the line. Rockets are expected to be a top team next season and the seasons after. But 5 years down the line, they might start to fall and those picks will have more value. Nice ideal crazy.

Gotta love the media throwing Thibs under the bus saying we are asking for the world and the same people say the leading deal in the clubhouse is Gordon and future picks. They have no clue what deal is leading in the clubhouse. Just pushing whatever trades fit their agendas.

Count me 100% out on the Gordon rumor. 30 years old, averaged only 56 games per year during his career, has a bad reputation on defense, is an undersized 2 and was only an average 3-point shooter last season. I don't see how he helps us.

Yeah, there is really nothing Houston can offer us that makes sense. I agree with Khansy...it's just people putting momentum behind a desired narrative. They want to see a worthy challenger to Golden State, which is still far and away the favorite to win it all.

Thibodeau has long since thrown himself under the bus. The reports I've read indicate that it's the Rockets, not Wolves, pushing the idea of a Butler deal centered around Eric Gordon. I absolutely believe those reports. Why wouldn't Houston try for a deal like that? But while I don't think much of Thibodeau, I can't believe he would even remotely consider a Gordon-centric deal for Butler, much less actually offer something like that.

My worry is that the Wolves will make a bad deal by trying to use the Butler deal to get out from under Gorgui's contract. And honestly, that might be more Glen than Thibodeau, in which case shame on Glen.

I'm torn, I want Thibs gone, I want Butler gone, but I'm not sure how they get a good return for Butler by jettisoning Thibs right now. I fear lots of rash decisions by Taylor more than I fear Thibs returning.

Mike, I'm afraid you have concisely analyzed why so many of us feel uncomfortable with this frnachise right now. Something needs to be done with the Butler debacle, and for various reasons none of the options feel very good right now. It's too bad. Normally the day of the first pre-season game is filled with anticipation and excitement, but instead we're mired in discussions about what Butler solution is least unattractive. F@#* Butler. F@#* Thibs.

Yep. That's the delimma, Mike. The Wolves are in a bad spot. The two primary causes of the bad spot we're in are Butler and Thibodeau. Both have to go. We need to get rid of Butler before the season starts, getting the best young talent/draft assets possible in return. And we need to get rid of Thibodeau too. I don't see any benefit in waiting to get rid of Thibodeau. Apparently, Glen is calling the shots anyway for the front office. Thibodeau can be ably replace as head coach on an interim basis by assistants Andy Greer or Ryan Saunders or by bringing in McHale.
