Trending Up vs. Trending Down (Wolves vs. Cavs GT)
Re: Trending Up vs. Trending Down (Wolves vs. Cavs GT)
Butlers quote after the game is hilarious. "I knew he was going to block it so I just put it up there for him to throw my shit into the stands."
Got to love Butler. Taking ownership in a good way.

DVR review summary:
- Wow. That was fun. Terrible, terrible defense for much of it... but things tightened up a bit later and big shots were made. Simple as that.
- My current beef... again. KAT needs more than 12 shots. He was 14 - 16 with free throws tonight shooting the basketball. Force it to him if you have to... Frye and Osman won't stop him. 12 isn't enough.
- I'm rooting for the Wolves, so I assume I'm slightly biased... but there were some "interesting" calls. The 3-step three pointer (no travel) for James followed by the 1/2 step travel call on Dieng was almost more amusing than frustrating. Almost. Of course the local crew picked up on it... but the ESPN crew didn't catch it. Then, there was the Teague fragrant The foul on Teague vs. Thompson for the and-1 but not for Wiggins on the exact same play moments later. Then, the slap on Crawford. Then, the foul on Butler. Et al. Ugh... but... it's the NBA.
- I think the Wolves had 3 plays where they leaked out or stood there after long threes by the Cavs... and missed the rebound. The Cavs scored each time.
- Butler passed up FOUR layups in this game? FOUR! I believe 3 were in the 1st half. Why wasn't he shooting those?
- I don't understand the defense on the last play either. But you see that from other teams too. I simply don't understand why.
- LeBron James. I don't like him. At all. But he's really fucking good.
- A winnable game that the team lost. The Cavs needed it even more. Hopefully, the Wolves put the Bulls away quickly on Friday. Otherwise this fun game becomes a bit more frustrating.

I watched the game with my dad tonight and he was so pissed off at the sequence of the travels you mentioned. He chucked the remote. He has not been that mad in years. He is a high school ref, and rarely complains about officiating because he understands how hard it is but damn was he mad tonight.
I agree with everything you said good summary now don't lose to the Bulls.

Looks like the timer was started too slow, there are pictures that bron started his turn and the clock still hadnt started yet.

It was one of those theatrical games where it was pretty much to script. And yes the officials influenced the outcome greatly. How to you can hit a turnaround jumper in under 1 second is beyond me. And there was still 0.4 sec left when it left his hands.

The clock started late no doubt. James also pushed off. But I still think he would have had a tenth or two probably.
Should have had all 5 defenders back like we said before. That's just horrible coaching.

I thought the Cavs made a ton of well contested 3's - shit happens. It was our interior defense that was just terrible. Dieng, KAT, and Bjelly deserve a ton of the blame.

I honestly didn't think Towns was as bad as the comments here make him out to be. He wasn't as good defensively as he's been, no, but I thought for the most part he was where he needed to be. LeBron muscled him a couple times and made some jumpers on him after the switch, but he didn't get carved up from what I saw.
I do know Dieng and Bjelica provided zero resistance. Our bench didn't really give us a lot in this game in general.

So frustrated with Dieng. Who coaches these big men? How hard is it so get square, move your feet, and let your length just naturally get in the way instead of being a human turn-style. Dieng might be the worst big man in history at taking on guards and wings going down hill. It's a layup practically every time.
And I used to really like Gorgui!

That's my assessment as well, Cam. While KAT wasn't as good as he's been defensively the past couple months, he wasn't terrible. But the other two.... It was really disappointing because I've viewed both Dieng and Belly as decent defenders.
