Guys, Hoiberg's going to Chicago. It's practically a done deal from everything that's been reported. Not sure what young guy Flip's going to get. Also, would you rather have a young coach or one of the best coaches in basketball? I'd take the latter in a heartbeat.

I didn't listen to the Funkadelic. But I wouldn't expect Flip to say anything other than the right things on the radio - so I doubt it would change my gut feeling. Also, couldn't we apply your same logic (if they were going to hand it over to Mitchell, they would have already done so) to hiring any coach other than Flip?

* Adelman quit over a year ago.
* We have another draft coming in a few weeks. (I'd assume you'd want a coach to be involved)
* Other teams aren't having any difficulty filling open coaching positions.
* I have not seen/heard of any concrete reports of the Wolves interviewing or even considering coaches

I don't have a crystal ball. But I interpret that as Flip's the coach until I see otherwise.

Another Chicago insider reporter saying Thibs wears out his players and loses them on Friday's Lowe post. I guess Cool really did have the inside scoop on this angle. Who's your top guy if you could replace Flip with anyone who is available Cool?

I think mine is JVG.

I listened to the podcast too, I think that your over-inflating the comments in that interview. The reporter said that some players didn't like the grind of practices and shoot-arounds that Thibs had them do but they always respected him and his dedication to the game.

Also Lowe and the reporter were floating a theory out that these exit interviews with the players where the comments of wearing out players came into play were fabricated by the front office and owner as a smear campaign against Thibs.

Not trying to flame this board up again but there is still no one player who has come out as anti-Thibs.

I put little chance with this, but I'd see what Tyronn Lue is thinking in Cleveland. He at times has been the main coach of that team with Lebron going around Blatt. The Cavs made a lot of 3's this year and are showing to be a great defensive team with the right players. He's going to get a HC job somewhere at some point. The question is whether or not he's the next great transition from assistant to HC like Bud in ATL. His players like and respect him probably more than their actual HC. Just a thought.

I think that is a very balanced take of that interview Volans. You are correct that I am inflating a bit. I don't think a player ever comes out publicly as full anti-coach though, it is against the code. I am sure that because of Thibs intensity there are probably a lot of players more than happy to see him go. Cool never really stated that players were"anti-Thibs" as a gifted coach/basketball guy, only that his style can wear players down, which seems to be fairly well supported by several media people. The section starting at around 51:40 does seem to imply some smoke as the players are concerned. I believe this stylistic approach could run the danger of losing players. I personally would be for Thibs as our coach, but the reports and counter arguments do make me wonder if it would be a bumpy road.

I just listened to the coaching part of it on Fan on Demand: http://www.kfan.com/media/podcast-dan-barreiro-KFAN_Barreiro/529-bumper-to-bumper-with-dan-26087366/

I'm curious what specifically you heard from that which makes you think Flip is stepping aside anytime soon?

Thanks for the shout out Dope. The key phrase you have here is "anyone who is available". That provides a smaller field. Would Calipari be considered available? He would be my first choice with Izzo not too far behind. But in terms of guys without a job right now, I think JVG would be as good a choice as any.
