I just listened to the coaching part of it on Fan on Demand: http://www.kfan.com/media/podcast-dan-barreiro-KFAN_Barreiro/529-bumper-to-bumper-with-dan-26087366/

I'm curious what specifically you heard from that which makes you think Flip is stepping aside anytime soon?

Well now you have listened to it hopefully you found something worth considering that is all.

Actually, the only thing I found worth considering is how I could get that 10 minutes of my life back :-).

Another Chicago insider reporter saying Thibs wears out his players and loses them on Friday's Lowe post. I guess Cool really did have the inside scoop on this angle. Who's your top guy if you could replace Flip with anyone who is available Cool?

I think mine is JVG.

Thanks for the shout out Dope. The key phrase you have here is "anyone who is available". That provides a smaller field. Would Calipari be considered available? He would be my first choice with Izzo not too far behind. But in terms of guys without a job right now, I think JVG would be as good a choice as any.

One interesting thing about JVG is he is 53 which is 4 years younger than Thibs who is like 2 years younger than Flip.

I guess I don't understand why Flip would hire a retread coach over just staying on as the coach himself. There aren't many retreads on the market that don't come with baggage and strong opinions. I would think Flip would want someone either much younger or newer to the NBA game that he doesn't have the potential to butt heads with. Any retread would have to be pretty close to Flip's style of coaching to even have a chance in my opinion. If they have a stark contrast in style or system I don't see how they get hired under Flip. The Adelman experiment failed and I don't think that was a good experience for Flip not having as much power as he'd like to get some of his guys on the court that weren't playing.

Calipari is a great recruiter and does a good job of getting his team to play defense. I think he is a very average in game coach however. He says Towns was his best three point shooter, but he wouldn't let Towns shoot that shot. Not sure I want a coach that doesn't coach to his players strengths.

I want to get a young, innovative coach to coach our young team. Who that is, I have no clue.

Not having Towns shoot the 3 was about developing him at the next level having him play as a true big. I'm with coach Cal on that one.

I think you can develop him as a post player and give him the opportunity to do what he is best at.

Calipari's not leaving Kentucky for a while. He loves that gig too much.

Who has a better track record (not talking wins) Thibs or the Bulls FO? It's not even close really. First it was Jackson, then Skiles, Del Negro and Thibs. They had issues with ALL those guys with a variety of personalities/styles. There's a lot of BS coming out of the Bulls FO and it's pretty sad to see Hoiberg sucked in. The Bulls are pathetic.

There was a whole thread on this, and people pointed out stuff from it. Check it out.
