I just listened to the coaching part of it on Fan on Demand: http://www.kfan.com/media/podcast-dan-barreiro-KFAN_Barreiro/529-bumper-to-bumper-with-dan-26087366/
I'm curious what specifically you heard from that which makes you think Flip is stepping aside anytime soon?
There was a whole thread on this, and people pointed out stuff from it. Check it out.

I saw that thread. It doesn't answer my question.
Multiple references to 2 years of development, coaches not finding the job appealing just yet, coaches only getting 2 years to prove themselves so if one had taken the job last summer their first 2 years would have been full on development, etc. There were also hints to next summer. I fully expect a new coach by next summer. Flip also flat out said he wants to find a coach and that he's not going to coach 10-12 years alongside the young talent. He wants someone to be here the majority of Wiggins' & other guy's careers.
Another Chicago insider reporter saying Thibs wears out his players and loses them on Friday's Lowe post. I guess Cool really did have the inside scoop on this angle. Who's your top guy if you could replace Flip with anyone who is available Cool?
I think mine is JVG.
I listened to the podcast too, I think that your over-inflating the comments in that interview. The reporter said that some players didn't like the grind of practices and shoot-arounds that Thibs had them do but they always respected him and his dedication to the game.
Also Lowe and the reporter were floating a theory out that these exit interviews with the players where the comments of wearing out players came into play were fabricated by the front office and owner as a smear campaign against Thibs.
Not trying to flame this board up again but there is still no one player who has come out as anti-Thibs.
This stuff is getting downright comical. Unless this guy is running like 10 hour practices....I ain't buying it. During the season, while on the road, how often do teams even have practice at all? If even remotely true, I think players of old would punch these guys in the mouth. What's worse, is that many of the armchair players on this board support this sissy style of culture where heaven forbid, players actually have to earn their money and do things like practice. Wow, that does seem unrealistic! Everyone brings up the injuries....is that the Wolves problem for the past 20 years? Too much practice and shoot arounds? By the skill (or lack thereof) displayed by this team...I doubt it. Man, folks are getting SOFT!

Yep. He did say all those things. But does that make sense to you? I bought into it last year as I could make logical sense of it. Last year we had the Love situation, no Wiggins, no #1 over all pick and lots of questions. But I'm just having a tough time buying into this year. Specifically:
1.) Why would coaches find it more appealing next year vs. this year?
2.) Wouldn't a new coach want input in picking this year's #1 to build their team around?
3.) Who's to say anyone from his "coaches short list" will want it next year (or be available?)
4.) Teams are constantly churning players/talent. The last couple Lotto picks we had (DWill and Wes) lasted two year. How realistic is it to plan for anyone (much less a core) staying together for 10-12 years?
5.) If building a successful franchise is the goal, wouldn't getting fully staffed (full time GM and full time coach) be a priority?
6.) I think there have been 11 coaches hired by other teams since Adleman quit. What makes the Wolves situation so unique that it's difficult to find a qualified candidate?
Last year Flip said "I'll coach until I'm not the coach". In that interview, he revised that to "I'll coach until I find someone I'm extremely comfortable with". It's pretty much the same thing in my mind. It means no change imminent. That's why I was surprised that a couple people came away with a different take i.e. Flips stepping down this year or next. I mean it's possible. But I think it's also possible Flip coaches for 3 or 4 years to see how far he can take this team all by himself first. Anyway - we'll see I guess!

1) A young talented core being further along in their development. It goes with the comment about coaches not getting much time to prove they can win. They get the hook pretty quickly so spending a couple years developing players puts them that much closer to getting the hook. Look at the Pelicans.
2) Probably depends on the coach and what they think of the draft class &front office.
3) The only one with any kind of idea are the ones who actually know the list.
4) That comment showed Flip gets it. He's not just planning for this year or next or 2 years from now, he's planning for the long haul and does not want to coach that long. Add that to his hints/comments about the whole 2 year thing and one can draw the conclusion that he would be targetting next summer.
5) Would you want to add a coach who isn't as good as Flip just so he can focus on GM? I wouldn't.
6) Qualified candidate who is also a good fit. Who of those 11 coaches hired would we have wanted and how many of those were even interested? There are a lot of factors.
Or it simply means he's not going to put just anyone in charge of running the team. It's clear he wants to get the right guy in here based on what he said. He didn't have to delve into all the coaching stuff. He could easily have skated those questions/comments, but he didn't.
