How in the world does Melo take a backseat to Lebron and Kyrie? Love at least is an elite rebounder and passer for a big man so the scoring drop doesn't render him to an average player or worse. Melo is an elite gunner at this point and that's pretty much it. The only team that really has the assets to get him where he would accept a deal is Chicago and that would cost them at least Butler which sets them back defensively by a lot on the perimeter. Teams with lots of young assets don't fall into his big market mentality unless he's willing to go to the Lakers to play next to Kobe and be in the same boat just on a different rebuilding team.
Cost them at least butler?!? No one in the league would trade butler for melo straight up. It'd be more like Gibson or mirotic and othet lower player assets and filler/picks. Melo isn't very coveted anymore.

The Knicks aren't trading Melo for Gibson, Mirotic and scraps. Melo is still an all-star caliber player when he's healthy. Gibson and Mirotic aren't young enough to sacrifice that much on-court quality.
I've thought Melo would eventually wind up in Dallas for a couple years now. Parsons, Harris (filler) and a couple first round picks would be about right.

Cleveland has the upper hand. We still have no idea whether these results will be fruitful on our end. We have a good starter kit in Wiggins, but I still view this the way you would if you traded your star pitcher for a top prospect or a star football player for a pick. We can't say whether we got a good haul for a good while, and definitely not after a 66 loss season where nobody learned anything.
