Dude lol, it's INCOMPLETE right now. The trade isn't official and they can't utilize half of what they gained until July. Flexibility is important.
MLE & BAE: July
TPE: Blank check they can flip for any player under 33m, can negotiate whenever, but smarter to use in July or the trade deadline.
Ayo: ability to re-sign him with zero worry of cap (could have extended him regardless, but with Randle they had to worry about other moves)

I was a bit surprised myself. So basically we now have traded KAT for nothing.
Those type of things get people fired in other local sports franchises based in Eagan.
Exactly. Screw the salary cap relief bullshit explanation. If that's what they wanted, why not just let his contract expire last year or trade him as an expiring contract last year.
Again - I'm ok with the trade and understand all the little details (allowed us to sign Ayo and cost savings of dropping back from 1st to a 2nd). Everyone gets that. But I'm just scratching my head at what was done leading up to this point. They clearly overvalued him within the context of the KAT trade and then giving him an extension. And now I'm pissed off because NY got a ring and our return is to feel good about a move back into the second round of this year's draft for salary relief. Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way! Alright, my rant is done.
I feel like myself and others are explaining this to kindergartners and the tykes are responding with “no yeah I get it but I still think I’m right anyways”.
Yes - exactly like that. There is no question in my mind most people on this board would see you as the guy that needs to explain things to people like kindergartners.
Dude, it's a message board....(that place where people can post their own thoughts/opinions). I didn't respond to you until now. I know your opinion (you've dominated this thread with it). Let me and Bleed have our own opinions and side discussion. Everyone is not always going to see things the same way and that's ok. I'm pretty confident we'll be just fine without any of your explaining.

Asking questions in your post > someone answers > hey I just stated my opinion!

The Julius Randle salary dump was what they did to stop the bleeding. It allows us to avoid the most restrictive apron penalties and still add to the roster ima calculated way vs in a need induced panic.

We added flexibility. You don’t seem to understand the new reality of the CBA and how it affects roster building.
Flexibility is meaningless unless you can use it. We have not proven that.

100% right, hence why some of us are waiting to see what moves they make to fill out the roster. I see the trade as an incomplete transaction until we see more. If they fail to bring in 2-3 good fitting pieces, I'll be with you in criticizing their decisions.

What I don't understand is folks thinking that because KAT won a title with the Knicks that somehow he and Ant would have won a title together if we had just kept him. I'll let someone smarter than me like Kekgeek explain all the reasons why keeping KAT was problematic for the Wolves, but it's not like he turned into a different player with the Knicks. He had a lot of the same issues as with the Wolves and ultimately became their 3rd option as they got deeper into the playoffs.
The question we should be asking is could have we won a championship with Jalen Brunson over Ant.

When have we been flexible!?!?!? Another made up scenario you use to make a point that is fake! Look up Straw Man.
We have been flirting with the apron system since its inception! Yesterday was the first day we have been able to see an actual light at the other side of the tunnel and a potential to be under the 1st apron even!

My concern is we trade KAT for flexibility and basically after 2 years it has not panned out. At best I think this works out as we take on somone else's salary dump.
