The guy sitting on the other side of him (an ex-Laker, by the way...you wouldn't know him, even before my time!) asked him right away who Flip is going to draft. My friend said he was with Glen and Flip within the past couple days touring the new facility, and Flip is still currently leaning Okafor. But he said it's far from a final decision, and that there are clearly 4 candidates. That kind of alarmed me...I wonder if the 4th is Porzingis or Mudiay. So, not much new there.

He did say that Flip has been impressed with the workouts of the potential second rounders they have brought in. The new facility has a spacious, gorgeous locker room that the T-Wolves will use, and another smaller one that they stuck the workout guys in. I found that kind of amusing...they're telling these guys they need to earn the NBA!

He also said that Flip still wants to bring his Big 4 in for interviews and workouts, despite what Okafor has said. My friend plans to attend the workouts, and I asked him if he could bring me as a guest. He said maybe...I'll keep you guys in the loop. It's a long way from the old days when the tryouts were held in the Arena Club gym, and even though they pulled a curtain around the court, members could watch the tryouts from the running track above. I distinctly remember how clumsy Paul Grant was, and how shocked I was when we drafted him. And I remember how blown away I was with a Canadian PG with greasy hair...he was spectacular in his workout. That was the Allen/Marbury year, so I wasn't advocating for Nash at 5 (he eventually went 15th), but I wasn't surprised either when he became a star.

I have a hard time keeping friends let alone having influential friends. Good stuff. I hope you get access to workouts. That would be so fun to witness.

Flip's gonna draft Okafor. I'm just gonna start being upset now so that in a couple weeks when the pick is made, I'll already be in the grieving process.

Good plan. Maybe Flip will trade up and round to get you a guy you want in the first round to help with the crushing blow. I think you want Towns more than anyone here but I will be oddly really disappointed if we take Okafor.

Don't let your hopes get up on Towns and talk yourself into Okafor, that way if it happens then you won't be as upset at the time and if he picks Towns you will be ecstatic. To me I'm happy picking any of the big 3. I won't be happy with picking guy number 4.

I can honestly make a case for the top 3. I worry for Cam's safety if Porzingis is the pick. (make that a lot of peoples safety)

Yes, but Flip still seems to have a woody for Jahlil. And according to Ford and Barreiro, most of the Wolves front office doesn't agree with him. That's comforting to me, as is the fact that Towns seems to be separating himself from the pack with the pundits more and more. I still think Flip will get this right.

I have no information on that, bleed, but I sense it might be Porzingis. Didn't Flip say he thought he was as skilled as anyone in this draft, or was that someone else that said that?

I think I read Flip saying that. Being from Europe and so skinny would scare me away from picking him first. I also don't see us trading young proven players to get back into the lottery to pick him.

You're more confident in Flip than I am. I figure he's like most of us, and when we have our opinion about a guy, it rarely changes, especially within the same month. I think this could be another case like last year where the decision-maker overrules his correspondents. For example, last year, everyone within SAC's FO wanted Elfrid Payton and owner Vivek Ranadivé wanted Nik Stauskas. Flip wants Jahlil, so Flip will get Jahlil. He's a stubborn old man.
