Notes on Upshaw.

It's a testament to Upshaw's ability as a defender that he was still being considered a potential first-round pick after being dismissed from both Fresno State and Washington over the past three years for off-the-court issues. However, a potential heart issue uncovered at the NBA Combine has things on hold for now, pending further test results. Before his season ended near the end of January, Upshaw was averaging over four blocked shots per game, and had five or more blocks in nine of his nineteen games. His instincts around the basket combined with a wingspan over 7'5" allows him to alter anything in the lane. Upshaw also has the size to defend one-on-one in the post, using his body well to force players away from the basket. Though his effort as a rebounder isn't always great, his size and ability to create space often makes it tough for others to even get a chance at the ball. Upshaw's offensive ability is nowhere near his defense, but he is an efficient scorer around the basket, using his size well to force his way to rim. Even if Upshaw is physically cleared to play, his past issues will still concern some teams, and he will need to prove himself often in the beginning of his career to show that it's all behind him.

de Paula was probably one of the most intruguing overseas prospects in the 2nd round. Now we have a better idea of the guys available to possibly stash in the 2nd round.

I think people are throwing Okafor under the bus a bit too much. The guy was consistently the #1 rated prospect throughout the process and the year for a reason, put up great numbers for a freshman, and is a plus passer and has considerable size and skills. And he DOES fit with a lot of what we have

Now...I want Towns not simply because he's the better athlete, but because his versatility means that you could put him with about any other players and he's a fit, which is a nice change up from most bigs where you have to try to find them a pair.

I like the idea of Rozier as well. Talked the other day about how i (and several others) like Wright because he brings continuity on the court as he carries similar skillset to Rubio. Rozier is a polar opposite of Rubio in that he will look to score more often than not. He is a very skilled player....and not a true PG....but I would be pretty happy with him as a backup PG type. Similar skillset to Jason Terry.

I would definitely prefer Wright over Rozier. Just fits much better the rest of the team.
