There are all sorts of ways to win in this league. Having real stars seems to be the most important factor. Lakers are winning on really talented size and D. Lakers / Clippers is going to be fun.

I feel like those are clearly the two best teams.

And I want both to lose. Wish that was still possible.

Go Celtics!

A LeBron-led Lakers team vs. Celtics will cause ESPN and the sports glitterati to be all aflutter with anticipation. It meets all the criteria for round-the-clock coverage and media fawning: 1) Coastal teams; 2) Traditional, albeit very outdated at this point, rivalry. In fact, is there such a thing as a real rivalry in sports anymore? Certainly not in the NBA; 3) LeBron.

It kind of makes me want to puke honestly. Hope the Clippers beat the Lakers. That will be slightly less nausea-inducing in that Kawhi almost defies the superstar caricature (he went to an LA team, which takes him down a notch, but at least it was the lesser of two evils!).

I would rather see LeBron win a title for the Lakers than Kawhi win for the Clippers. At least LeBron full committed to the Lakers and signed a long-term deal. Kawhi signed a two year deal so he could get out yet again if he wanted to go somewhere else. Imagine if this season had gotten cancelled and next shortened because of COVID and the Clippers would have got basically 1 season of Kawhi and PG before they could move on. Also Kawhi left after winning a title when he should have run it back for a year and then went to LA. That Toronto team is probably in prime position to repeat had he stayed.

Maybe Kawhi can come win us a title next.

Fair points. The guy is an enigma, which I kind of like. He's also quietly putting together a career that could eventually put him in the pantheon of all-time greats.

Sure. He's phenomenal.

But I balk at all this "If he leads three different teams to titles" stuff like it was an impossible feat nobody else could pull off.

If other all-time greats jumped teams for multiple seasons in a row... that "remarkable unprecedented feat" wouldn't feel so hollow.
