Still not a fan of this strategy. It's for losers in my opinion, something the Timberwolves have honed into an art form as a franchise. Flip simply carried on that fine tradition.

In terms of landing a star player, I think Mudiay, Russell, Hezonja, and a couple of others have just as good of a chance at being stars/superstars as Okafor or Towns.

Yeah, I understand that take, Q. But I don't think Flip's soft tanking this year is the act that defines the Wolves as "losers"...that ship sailed long ago, as we haven't sniffed the playoffs in over a decade. Given that we are already losers, Flip needed to choose a path that would most quickly allow us to shed that label, and he choose a strategy that gave us the best chance of getting the top pick. I know you like probability, q...that's why you remind us of the power of the 3-point shot over the long 2. To me, Flip tried a 3-pointer when he implemented his tanking strategy, and at least this one time, the shot went in!

While I don't disagree that some of the guys projected to go 3rd or later could eventually eclipse the two big men in this draft, I far prefer the flexibility that having the first pick has over having the 4th pick. I'm happy today that Flip didn't win a few meaningless April games that would have led to our getting the 4th pick.

I'm actually with, Q. I did not like how Flip-the-GM soft-tanked. But, damn, I am HAPPY with the results!

It's not just Flip. The Wolves have been masters at late-season tanking in recent years. Anybody want to see the stats again? Too bad... they are THAT absurd. Let's check them out.

2010: 1 - 23
2011: 0 - 15
2012: 1 - 13*
2013: didn't tank!!!
2014: didn't tank!!!
Let's get this ship back on track...
2015: 0 - 12

Add it up... it's ugly...

2 - 63 to close out those 4 seasons... 3 of which the team was definitely tanking. At the very least, we know that the Wolves are not an organization that finishes seasons strong, even though they are seemingly perpetually young and allegedly in the business of helping players develop.

* might have just been ineptitude. The team was 25 - 27 before things fell apart at the end with injuries and stuff. I forgot. The Wolves didn't have a 2012 draft pick. So they went 1 - 13 just because they sucked balls apparently.]
