Re: Towns deals?
Replace Joel Embiid or Nikola Jokic on their respective teams with the level of player Karl-Anthony Towns was last year and neither team skips a beat. His talent and ability is just as elite as those two despite the different circumstances for all three. Even great players are elevated by strong supporting casts. Towns has had that once in his entire career and the Wolves were a top team in the Western Conference when he did. And that doesn't even account for the fact that he's a better player than he was at 22-years old. It's a shame that he hasn't had the quality of teammates as those other guys have had for the majority of their careers or else Towns would be talked about in a completely different light.

I actually give Embiid and Jokic an edge on KAT. Embiid is a great defender while Jokic is the best passing big in the game while putting up triple doubles.
KAT needs to elevate his game to be in the same company. He still has issues with too many fouls, not setting screens well at all and mediocre defense overall which is being nice I think.
KAT also could take a step forward next season as well. Hope he can stay healthy and his family too. I'm not ripping KAT for not taking a step forward this season, it's to be expected considering all the circumstances he has gone through.

I agree. Towns is way overrated here. Is he very talented, yes. Does he help his team win games. NO. Could he be an elite talent yes. He just is not a winner and doesn't care much about winning. KG hated losing, he hated it. He would sacrifice anything of his game to win. Towns accepts losing. As long as he gets his numbers he's happy. Only reason he has gotten a pass is cause Wiggins was even worse in this regard. Love is a great example. Everyone claimed him to be one of the top players in the league when he was putting up outrageous stat lines. He leaves and has never been heard of again. Good players win games. They don't settle for stats.

Kevin Love has won a title and been to 2 finals. I would take Jokic and Embiid over Towns but the one time Towns had an All star talent with him that team won 48 games. And on pace for 50+ before the other person got hurt

Yeah as the third option behind LeBron and Kyrie. If your saying that Towns is a good third option on a championship team then roll with that. Some players play winning basketball while other get their stats. Butler is a winner. Butler lead us to that record. Towns whined because he wasn't the alpha on that team. People need to quit with excuses for Towns. Hes very capable of so much more but you will not see until he is the second or third option, much like Love

I think KAT cares much more then you think. You are not going to be a competitive team when your best player is around the 20th best player in the league and the rest of the squad are lucky to be in the NBA for the most part. Guys are right that KAT hasn't had much help, but he could be better himself too. He's a notch below Embiid and the Joker but their rosters are also more talented and veteran as well.
KAT could replace those guys and I think those teams are just marginally worse, maybe a handful more losses a year.
As far as comparing KAT to KG, sure. But guys like KG are an aberration, KAT is not as competitive or has as much will to win, but not very many do. KG was in that 1% of NBA players.
Is Steph or Durant or even LeBron as fiery as KG or Jordan? Nope. You can be elite and not that crazy of a killer.

Pssst... KG isn't winning 41 games or more in today's NBA by himself either. You have to have help nowadays and KAT, quite frankly, just hasn't had it outside of the one year. Again, did you not pay attention to LeBron James and the 2018-19 Lakers?

Maybe second option. KAT could replace AD in LA and they'd still be the favorites in my book. KAT is still a great player but he's in the second tier. Not a Championship level leader nor has the skills right now to do so.

Also let me remind you this is a LeBron James that brought a team of Eric Snow, Larry Hughes, Drew Gooden and an aging Illgauskas to the finals by basically himself. Kevin Love has always been very highly overrated before he left here.

Yep, and he did that more than a decade ago when the league was completely different. Why are we bringing up 2007 when I referenced 2018? If LeBron James couldn't singlehandedly vault the Lakers into the playoffs in the Western Conference, then why should we pile on Karl-Anthony Towns for not being able to with the Wolves? The point is that great players need quality supporting casts and Towns hasn't been given that for the large majority of his career. This isn't a logical conversation at this point. You need more than one good/great player to compete in today's NBA. Period.
