Camden wrote:"I think it's about a 70% chance it will be Anthony Edwards."

- Darren Wolfson on the Timberwolves plans for the No. 1 pick.

This could be right, but doesn't it sound more like speculation than actual reporting? This is one of the reasons I can't take Wolfson seriously.

This type of reporting makes me laugh. You either have a source or not. I had reliable source that Twins were taking Royce Lewis a couple years ago or when PA told the whole world for a week the Vikings were taking Anthony Barr or I believe Lip knew wolves were targeting Zach Lavine. Put your name to something and be confident in it. This whole percentage thing to not have egg on your face at the end is so stupid.

Ideal draft scenario for me is to trade for an established 3rd contributor to this team. Im not sure we can even get a star with our assets. If that doesnt happen Id be ok with any of the players projected to be in the top 5. They all have their warts but all would be fun to root for as I see it. I get more particular about the 17 range. If we somehow come away with Nesmith, Achiuwa, or Terry I will be happy.

Let's say that does happen. What kind of trade package would make you have some level of confidence in the organization again?...until they made a pick a few minutes later. Lol

These have been my best possible outcomes for this number one pick for months now.

1. Trade for Ben Simmons
2. Trade for Devin Booker
3. Trade for Bradley Beal
4. Draft James Wiseman

Now, 1-3 look like they won't be happening this off-season. So, the absolute best thing that they could do, in my opinion, is take Wiseman and hold on to him. As soon as they trade his rights without getting back an All-Star -- or just straight up pick someone besides him -- I become less confident in this organization.

But I guess the hope is that the Wolves at least trade down to Charlotte's spot and pick up Miles Bridges and their second-round pick.

Thanks for the response Cam. So there is basically no way the Wolves can come out of this draft making you believe unless they draft Wiseman or trade for a star? Honestly I think (I know I'm probably getting my hopes up too high) that the offers for 1 are actually better than that Bridges and the 2nd type offer. We will see.

I believe you either trade for a star or take the guy that I presume will be a star, yes. Granted, we'll see how things play out in time, but I'm just that sure of my evaluation.

And I also agree that the offers for the top pick are likely better than that. I'm saying at least get that much. Anything less probably isn't even worth drawing up the paperwork.

Agreed

I have very little respect for most of the reporters who cover the Wolves. But part of that is I don't trust anyone in the media these days, which is kind of sad when you think about it. But the last two guys I'm going to listen to are Wolfson and John K.

I have no idea who we can get via trade, but my hope is we somehow maximize the return and don't have to make a pick at #1.

Wasn't that the problem with Justin Patton too?

Didn't have them in college but once we drafted him he had multiple foot injuries
