I'm a big Robert Covington supporter, but saying Klay Thompson is just slightly better offensively is kind of silly.

I consider him better then a role player, you need elite defenders and 3 point shooting to win in the league. Guys like him are not a dime a dozen, if they were we would have a bunch. Sure great ball handlers/distributors and scoring is great too, you need both. Klay Thompson is essentially just a slightly better RoCo offensively (Klays a better shooter obviously, RoCo is probably a better defender). Really think about it. Once they lost Klay last year, they were done, for this season too. RoCo stays healthy last year and the Wolves make the playoffs.

Even before we traded for him I felt Covington was the best role player in the NBA. A big wing who is a great volume 3-point shooter, elite defensively, and doesn't require even close to a high usage rate is pretty much the total package for role players.

Covington at worst is an elite role player. Klay is nearly a star and one of the best 2 way players in the league. I'd honestly say he and Rocco are pretty close in terms of defensive ability Rocco is pretty far behind Klay in terms of being able to score Klay is one of the best shooters...ever. I think a better comp to Rocco In term is how he impacts the game is actually Draymond and he is likely going to the HOF. Personally I think it would make sense to see what we got with the sort of core guys we have with Rocco for at least this season and go from there. Maybe we have something more than expected. I'd think Rocco would be a guy that would be a nice trade piece if you wanted to target a player/players (if you were able to acquire a 2nd pick) in the upcoming draft. If he has a healthy season this year his value may even go higher than it was last offseason.

Roco can't be your 3rd best guy on a title team. He's closer to Iggy than Klay and Iggy was the 4th guy pre-KD days while I think being a better player than Roco. If Wiggins keeps this up we just need a primary ball handling creator and then Roco is in his ideal spot as the 4th best guy who can spot up shoot on offense. It'd be great if we could keep him and get that guy, but I'm not sure that's gonna be possible and we'd be a more consistent team with that ball handling creator than what we have now.

Agree that he'd be the 4th or 5th best player on a title team. The bar is really high these days. Siakim was probably Toronto's 4th best player last year in the playoffs (depending on how you rate Marc Gasol) and Klay Thomposon or Draymond Green was probably the 4th best player on those Warrior teams.

G. Rosas has shown that he has a pretty good idea of how to build a culture and put a staff, facility and mindset in place to cultivate player development and a positive atmosphere. The long term process was in the off season, we struck out on our home run PG plan but made many small non-crippling moves which seems like good execution so far.

Next Move for the Wolves: Evaluate and develop, grow in all facets. Better coaching, utilize film study and analytics to play up to your potential and see where it takes us. So far MN is heading down the right path. G. Rosas will keep an open line and stay diligent, the players seem to be buying in and giving good effort, sticking with the system even on a 6-40 something 3pt shooting night and then bounce back the next game. That's your next move, don't take it to fast and enjoy the season! Cheers!

It's fun to think ahead, trades, playing time debates but that's not the next move that's down the road IMO.

They won 73 games. That's the best in history, not just a title team. Talent has been spread out recently, so no dominant team exists now like it was. Everyone knew GSW was the best team and likely winning it every year barring injuries. Now it's a lot more open. RoCo being the 3rd guy is certainly reasonable. Are you saying if he's the 3rd and instead of Kat and Wiggins we have LeBron and Davis we are not in title contention? Or Kawhi and George?

Depth matters but even more, having the best player matters as well. If KAT and Wiggins can be the best duo in the league, this team can contend. Since our boat is tied to them that's the best we can hope for at this point. If Wiggins can't be we would need to get rid of him as well, not just RoCo. He's paid max money while RoCo is less then half that if I remember.

If you can keep Wiggins and land DLO I think you do it. Can you do it without giving up Roco? I doubt the Warriors see a need for Roco. I think they would want picks, but we would need to move salary their ways.

I would try to position Dieng and Teague for DLO and WCS plus 2 - 1sts.

Yeah, we could definitely use those two firsts!

Seriously though, I wonder what happens to Wiggins if you bring in a DLO, and take the ball out of his hands.

That would be interesting how Wiggin would play with him. Would it be like when LaVine was here?

Sadly I think the 1st's wouldn't matter much. We would whiff on the picks anyways.
