I can't help wondering how NBA players are catching this disease. Players and coaches are tested repeatedly. That means their work environment should be extremely safe. They're in a position where they can have anything they want delivered to them safely without the need to venture out to grocery stores or public buildings of any kind. I understand that it's impossible to remain 100% safe unless you and your family members never leave your home or allow anyone else in it - which is pretty much what may wife and I have been doing. But NBA players should be really close to 100% safe unless they don't all follow existing Covid guidelines. The problem, of course, is that it's unlikely all players follow those guidelines. I suspect that KAT has adhered to those guidelines completely given what he's been through with his family. He likely got the virus from another player -- maybe one of his own teammates -- someone who didn't strictly follow those guidelines. We all know what James Harden was doing just before the season started.

I'm just rambling a bit. This virus is horrible. It's destroying lives and livelihoods. It's isolating us from one another and I think it's contributing to the divisions and anger we've been seeing this past year and more recently at the U.S. Capitol. The only remedy is a vaccine that's rolling out all too slowly. Vaccines have spared us the mass death and disability that past generations endured through other pandemics including small pox and polio. A vaccine will eventually put an end to our current nightmare. I guess we just need to be patient and take great care in the meantime to keep ourselves and those around us safe.

So stay safe everyone!

This is on the players and the staff. The Twins went 2-3 months without a positive test. The only main people to contract COVID were Sano and Asstudillio and they had it before camp. The wolves have no infrastructure from top to bottom it's no surprise that this happened. Same reason why Miami was the first team to catch it in the MLB. I know they made the playoffs but the been the epitome of crap management for 30 years.

I agree jester that this is on the players. And we can pin a lot of blame on management for this franchise's lack of success, but I can't blame them for this one. Basketball is an entirely different game than baseball...in baseball, there's a slight chance you might inhale some bodily fluids during a game, but it's not nearly as likely as basketball where you you are in close quarters for 48 minutes with sweat and spit flying everywhere. If someone is contagious on a basketball court, you can be pretty sure it's going to spread. Not as likely with baseball.
Are management and staff responsible for making sure the entire roster is following the rules and not going out to restaurants and bars? I think that's a stretch, and I would guess the Wolves' protocols here mirror the rest of the league. Blame them for bad drafts, blame them for bad GM and coaching choices. But Covid? I don's see any blame there, except on the players.

Meh. The Wolves ownership/management can be blamed for a great many things. But this may not be as much of a poor infrastructure thing as you might think.

The Celtics and Heat were hit with COVID and contact tracing right before the Timberwolves.

Are you suggesting those squads have infrastructure issues, too?

I'm saying poor infrastructure doesn't help the cause. My main point is it's in the players. How many photos do you need of Harden or Kyrie without masks on in public. The NBA players are elitist and have proven they can't handle it without a bubble. There have been almost more games cancelled this last 2 weeks alone.
Than baseball entire season. Yes different games and one of them is outdoors. The problem is the virus is getting brought in from the outside and as FNG said basketball must be more contagious game to play.

On a side note...
I have sister who plays D3 right now in Indiana. They have the benches apart and have to wear there mask when they come out of the game like the NBA. Yet as soon as the come on the court mask off. I didn't know corona stopped once you cross the line to start playing basketball. Turns out there first game other girl on the other team had Corona. My sister now has it with 5 other teammates and are being quarantine at a Holiday Inn by the school.

There's no reason to be playing basketball till June when vaccines are more available.

Adam Silver is not enough of an asshole to get this done. Player empowerment is something that happens when everything is roses. And it's not now and hasnt been since Morey made the China comments. I dont think its coincidence Glen cant get the price that Forbes valued his franchise at.

Weren't the ratings sort of poor for the playoffs last season? If the product is becoming less popular that's going to be an issue as well.

It's really hard to know about the ratings though when it was against an election cycle, football and in the summer
