Maybe. I'm not as "hell has been unleashed" about Russell as you are.
Heck, at this point, I'd opt for a few brief glimpses of hope in that sort of trade than the deck furniture overhaul we're getting tonight.

So far, this only puts the Wolves on a different treadmill in the same gym.

Yep at the moment it was we traded all the guys who were expiring (and KBD) for guys who are expiring.

So Cov and KBD for a mid 1st in a bad draft if Beasley is proven not good.

Also what 2nd did the rockets get

I get your point. I just think rfa is a better tool for a team like the Wolves than most teams. First because we're over the cap and 2nd because we're not a free agent destination

This trade comes down to if Beasley is anything if not we traded Cov for a middle 1st in a bad draft.

Also the Glenn Taylor/ Scott Layden led Butler trade is complete.

Butler and #11 for Culver, Nets 1st, Beasley, Vanderbilt, hernangomez, Turner.

Just remember a trade of butler for Eric Gordan, PJ Tucker and 4 1st was on the table but Taylor and Layden went in another direction

Trading Covington is fine. Trading away half the roster who plays with him for a 1st round pick in the 20's and pretty much no other future value is not fine. One aspect overlooked is we just traded away a decent chunk of guys we literally just brought in this year to supplement this roster. Bell and Vonleh (signed as FA's) are gone and Shabazz and Graham (picked up via trade) are gone. If you are a fringe guy like any of those guys why would you ever sign in MN any more? The GM sent a message this year that he's gonna ship you out real quick if things don't click immediately and we didn't even try 2 big lineups that could have made Bell and Vonleh actual contributors on this team. So now in addition to the top guys never coming here, we just cutout the bottom guys as well so we are looking at overpays and G Leaguer's as our potential FA acquisitions in the near future. We look like the least stable organization in a league that has the New York Knicks who just fired/promoted their PBO to the basketball board of directors.

Seriously? You have a problem with the other guys we traded? Yeah, I'd hate getting traded to a playoff team if I was a fringe player...

I mean what's uprooting your entire life in the middle of a basketball season to go to another city right? That doesn't put any stress on them or their families at all. There's more to life than just basketball. These guys play ball for a job and then they have entire lives off the court. Think about the bigger picture beyond just what it means on the court.

There is something to this.

For years, we've seen this organization take care of vets and buy them out to play nice with future players. Playing with the ESPN trade machine because the numbers line up... but leaving the team entirely adrift... seems off to me. Now, considering just how bad the Wolves are right now, maybe other players will think the Wolves are doing those guys a favor, considering they'll be appearing in the playoffs.

AGAIN... there's another trade happening. There has to be...

So you would have preferred rosas to come out with a statement that we're not making any moves to improve our future because we don't want to upset these guys personal lives?

Because we are literally the worst team in the NBA right now. Malik Beasley isn't better than Robert Covington. We don't have a single NBA PG on the roster. If you said before the season we would take the roster we had and turn it in to the worst team in the NBA everyone would be freaking out at what the fuck happened. We were supposed to be fringe fighting for a playoff spot and we're now lucky if we can win another 5 games this entire year.

But... BUT...

The Wolves get an extra middle of the round draft pick for the embarrassing season.

Maybe.

Um we suck before and after the trade. How does that affect whether there's another trade coming? We have guys that can play point guard for a tanking team. Culver Wiggins, mcglaughlin nowell

The 16th pick might not actually be that bad. It could net us a guy like RJ Hampton.

I gotta say... I do like that the Wolves sometimes set a precedent.

If things stay as they are... I'm pretty sure the Wolves will be the only team in NBA history to lose 55+ games with two mostly healthy #1 draft picks and max contract guys in their prime.

Making history!
