What is a big? Someone tall or is it someone tall who can't dribble and pass? Giannis would be a nice piece to have at the 4 or Ben Simmons. They are what, 6-11 and 6-9. lol

RoCo as much as I love him isn't all that effective at dribbling and dishing. Obviously Dieng, Vonleh, Naz are far worse, is that what is stopping them from placing a tall person at the 4/5 with Towns?

I agree with the 3 point shooting bit, but then we have Okogie who plays and starts often. Why can he play but not the others? It's just so backwards.

Yes I know all the players have their faults, it's just odd to have a system installed and not allow tall people. What is the exact requirement of the player playing the 4 spot?

I think a lot of what makes Cappella great is Harden though. No Harden no easy lob dunks. Defensively, sure it's all on him.

I think from Rosas' perspective a big is someone that is both a) tall, and b) limited in at least two out of three attributes: defending in space, shooting, and ball handling.

KAT and Dieng are bigs because both are tall and can shoot, but aren't great at defending in space or handling the ball. Capela is a big because he is tall, but can't shoot or handle the ball. He can defend in space, but that isn't enough. Giannis is tall, can defend in space, and handle the ball. Therefore he'd be eligible to play the 4 next to KAT. Same with Simmons.

That's the most sense I can make of it.

I know the rumor is that Houston is looking to ship Capela to East....but wouldn't he be someone the Wolves should want? A dynamic defender to put next to KAT? He is actually an interesting target. He and Cov both have great contracts compared to their production. Could this be something that happens? Maybe Capela for Cov / Vonlah /2020 2nd ?

Capela for Covington straight up works. Unfortunately our coach and GM are too focused on playing one big for them to make a good move like that.

Houston probably doesn't want to deal Capela to GS but that would be an interesting gt for them. I get that bigs are somewhat east to come by and they can play Draymond at the 5 alot but...Capela would look good with that group.

Houston...Is Hartenstein still looking good for them? He is putting up some nice numbers when he has played. It seems like they could be dealing from a place of strength and adding a guy like Covington who is really good and a value contract and fits their system perfectly. I'm starting to get a bit excited thinking what the Wolves might be able to get for Covington...I probably shouldn't get my hopes up too high.

That's the feeling I get too. I'm just trying to figure out what players would even be options. I think the 4 has to -

Shoot the 3 at a reasonable rate
Handle the ball somewhat well
Defend in space reasonably also

Now if you want one who can also be a great rim protector and rebounder to be a pairing next to KAT. The list just becomes extremely short.

I just don't see finding a guy who can do everything. Like I was thinking you are looking for a player like RoCo but with better rim protection ability and rebounding. I just thought that Ben Simmons or Giannis would be a couple guys who can fit the mold. Obviously we are not getting either. Maybe Simmons could be had if we give them a couple/bunch of unprotected 1sts and RoCo. IDK though. Simmons lacks the 3P but could be a nice piece to pair with KAT. KAT can spread the floor and Simmons has the defense on the back end too to help that side.

Allegedly...

The Wolves were cool with trading Covington + Brooklyn's lottery pick + Minnesota's high lottery pick for D. Russell...

... and it wasn't good enough? I know the Wolves need to do SOMETHING. But yikes. Whether they get Russell now or in the offseason is irrelevant anyway. That's huge haul to give up for somebody who obviously prefers not to play here.

He could have simply signed in the offseason and the team he'd be joining wouldn't be so decimated.

Well let's be honest, he didn't exactly come from an organization known for getting it done in the playoffs. In fact they were always built to fail when it matters most. How much hope should we have with this guy?
