1. As far as Fernandez goes, I don't think Boras is the biggest issue (Ryan seems to have a {surprisingly?} good relationship with Boras). I think the fact that most of his teammates don't seem to like him is the biggest issue. Secondary issue is you don't give up a lot for a guy who can't stay healthy. A high-ticket free agent is a much better problem to have than a washout you just gave up good players to get, or a clubhouse cancer.
2. I normally agree with Terry Ryan, but not with the Pinto release. This organization is THIN at catcher, and even if that catcher from Ole' Miss makes the leap, you still have to account for injuries.
