I really do hope Houston implodes. It's no secret that I'm not a fan of James Harden. His dumb beard, manufactured fouls, and entanglement with the Karshadian cesspool makes him unlikeable on many levels.
However....That team has some flat out talent, including Harden. I can see where the right coach that can hit the right buttons gets them winning again.

There must be something else going on with Morey and McHale. The real downside I see with this firing is that it opens up another intriguing destination for a top-notch coach.
I don't think it has much to do with Morey and McHale... and everything to do with McHale and his stars on that team.
You can't fire the players.
But doesn't 4-7 seem like a bit of an overreaction?
Not if your superstar(s) want him out. Or, have tuned him out.

I apologize for repeating myself on this subject, as I have said it many times before:
There is absolutely a place for Mchale. My first wish is that he becomes some sort of "Superscout", specializing in post players. He would travel the globe, looking for the best prospects. The Wolves can then trade off guys and draft new players based on his word. That is how much respect I have for his word on that subject.
If he refused that, then some sort of "instructor", ala Tom Kelly, where the post players report for camp, even before camp, and works with them.
But no, not a GM responsible for 15 roster spots, and not a coach either.

As much as I like Mchale as a coach, I don't want him anywhere near our front office. Glen has been pretty open that Mchale isn't good about the details.
God Almighty you have got to be kidding people. McHale, great guy or not, stunk as GM. Dhudi IBI, anyone? We didn't have competent drafts until Flip took over. McHale fired Randy WHitman and Dwayne Casey because they couldn't win with the shit McHale gave them.
Let the past be the past. Broadcast, fine. I'd rather have Sam as a coach than McHale.

Yeah I think McHale can have value to a franchise. Obviously I am not as down on McHale as other people have been over the years and no reaso to rehash why at this point and time. After some thought and listening to Souhan and AP Guy's latest podcast here is my thoughts on McHale.
AP guy said Glen basically is wanting to let Sam and Milt do their jobs this year and see how they do. Glen says there have been times where he has let people in his organizations have the opportunities and they have risen to the occasion. AP guy says he hears good things about Milt so far.
Bringing back McHale just seems awkward right now even if you think he is a good basketball mind. Even in the role Jason theoretically gives him it still feels like McHale would be lurking for a bigger role even if he wouldn't be.
I wonder what type of relationship both KG and Glen still have with McHale. Part of me thinks at some point ai would be a little surprised if someone didn't reach out to McHale at some point but I guess you never know. It's interesting how a franchise like the Wolves have 2 of the best basketball players to ever play the game in KG be McHale closely tied to them.
Bottom line at this point in time I am all for letting Milt and Sam do their thing the next few months unless I see some reason to do otherwise. Milt has a reasonable basketball resume to make me think he has some clue as to what he is doing.

I would have no problem with McHale coming back to the Country Club as long as it's not as POBO or GM.
Color Analyst in case J-Pete moves on to something bigger and better? Fine. Big Man consultant as Jason suggested? Fine. Part owner? Fine. Coach? Perhaps....but let's give Mitchell at least this season and perhaps more if things continue to go well.
All and all, I don't see how McHale enters the picture again in the near future. But a year from now? Two years from now? Perhaps.
