Kek, I think we can all appreciate your passion in saying what you believe to be morally right, but I do think you're taking this incident further than it needs to go, or rather making it a much bigger deal than it actually is. The LGBTQIA+/- community was not threatened by his actions. No actual harm was done to them. We're talking about a 21-year old kid pointing out an eccentric group -- one that he knew nothing about, including their sexuality -- and making fun of what they were wearing. If he wasn't Anthony Edwards, nobody would care because it's insignificant. Should he have posted that video to his Instagram story given his status as a professional basketball player and celebrity? No, he should not have. Is what he did some kind of hate crime? Does he need counseling or some sort of personal awakening? No, he does not. This isn't Malik Beasley getting arrested for reckless and potentially dangerous shenanigans. This is a minor blip on what is, by nearly all accounts, a good human being with a clean record. He issued an apology. The organization issued a statement. Let's all move on.

People get made fun of every day. The outfits they were wearing were obnoxious and ridiculous and attention seeking. This shit is annoying as hell.
Speaking of this, walking to our car for the vikings game a guy was walking across the exit of a parking lot when a truck pulled out in front of him. Said guy walking gets upset he now needs to walk around truck and slaps back of truck. Guy in truck is black and immediately yells at the guy saying he only hit his truck because he's black. They both looked like total dumbasses. Shits gotta stop. Everything that happens isn't racist or culturally insensitive.
It's encouraging to see several comments like this on here. I agree. I honestly expected to click on this thread and see 100% of the people wining and agreeing with the OP. Maybe common sense is actually making a comeback. Ant didn't do anything wrong.

Im going to respectively decline your offer that we all move on. Im not going to go out of my way and continue to bring this thread up but I do think it has been super easy in the past to brush aside these types of situations because it is easy to do so and it does not affect your day to day life, what I completely understand.
I agree 100% with you that what Malik Beasley did was 100% worse and what Ant did was not a crime and once again I do not believe that Ant should be suspended or anything like that. But I do think it is important for players to realize how there actions can affect people. If it was your daughter and he did the same thing but changed Q***** into Slut I think you would have a different opinion on this subject.
I also disagree with you that this is only blowing up because it is Ant. Now to the level of media attention yes but if one of my clients did this they would be suspended from school. If I did this I would either be fired or suspended, I would say the majority of professions would have some type of consequences for the video Ant put up, even in the NBA Meyers Leonard is out of the NBA because of saying K*** on stream when dying in a video game.
At the end of the day I still believe Ant is a good guy and will use better judgement especially when it comes to posting on social media going forward. But I think these subjects matter and it does not take a ton of effort to just be nice to people when they are socially different from the norm even if you (I am using a general you) don't understand it.
*With this Sarver story today I think Ant actions will be brushed to the side for now.
Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

- It's easy to brush off this incident, and those that are similar to it, because it's largely insignificant and non-threatening. Anthony Edwards made an "oops" as far as judgement and public perception goes. Nobody will remember it happened several months from now, and rightfully so.
- I too have friends in the community. They are rational adults who understand that words only have power if you give them power. They don't care about comments as mild as what was said in Anthony Edwards' video. Actually, several of those friends still refer to things as "gay" despite it having nothing to do with sexual preference. That meeting was gay. Your shoes are gay. Words and their usage change. We don't have to react to everything. We can save our energy for when things are worth getting upset about.
- To that point, my hypothetical daughter in the situation you mentioned would have been raised with a higher threshold of self-worth and would be unfazed by such comments, as would I being her father. The softness of this generation and society in general is alarming. My family and I will not play into it. Try to treat everyone with respect regardless of if it is given to you in return. Be tough enough to ignore stupidity. Never be afraid of confrontation when necessary. It doesn't have to be that complex.

First the NFL opening weekend somewhat buried Ant's comments, and now the Robert Sarver bombshell just dropped. Edwards should be thanking his lucky stars right now lol!

If Ant wants to improve his image with me, all he needs to do is start dropping a bunch of Star Trek TNG allusions!
Re: Anthony Edwards makes a pretty big mistake
Anthony Edwards wants to be a person of influence, I think that is undeniable. This is his first lesson of the scrutiny that will apply to him as a public figure. Ultimately it seems like it was a good learning experience and I hope that he continues to promote positivity and joy which seemed to be his calling cards up to this incident (it probably doesn't merit being an incident but this is where we are). It will be interesting to see this next phase of him no longer being the media darling. I hope he pours all of his energy into being the best basketball player he can be, and can handle not everyone loving him.

There's no reason he can't or won't remain a media darling, if that's in fact what he's been. He'll remain a popular and widely liked celebrity based on his talent, charisma and fun personality. That might change if he points a loaded guy at a family or says something like Tim Hardaway's emphatic comment that he "hates gay people." I don't see Edwards doing anything like that. I think Cam captured my overall thoughts on this. Ant's moment of immaturity and bad judgment will fade fairly quickly as it should. There are so many things happening and said in our world everyday that are far, far worse than Ant's moment of insensitive immaturity that we saw in that short video.

Re: Anthony Edwards makes a pretty big mistake
It was an immature thing for Edwards to say. And also immature to post it to social media. Per Basketball Reference, Anthony Edwards just turned 21 in August. I for one am not outraged he did something stupid as a 21 year old.
That said, there is a code of conduct for all employees/everywhere. This turned into a small embarrassment to the organization. I see the Wolves released a statement and I see Edwards has also issued a formal apology. Hopefully he learned a valuable lesson about being in the public eye and representing his team. I see zero reason for the woke mob to grab their torches and pitch forks over this. It seems to have been handled promptly and professionally on the back end. There will be a small minority that will want more blood over this. But I think it's been dealt with and is over. Next.

Never knew Chris Hine was gay. He seemed disappointed. I suppose that speaks more to the importance of the issue to me than whether or not Ant offended a bunch of straight male basketball fans with his comments. I personally wasnt offended, but it sure would be tough for Chris to be all smiles the next time he is in a media scrum with Ant.
