Ant had to make an apologize today for using a homophopic slur on Instagram video directed at assumed gay guys.
Not a good look at all, lost a good amount of respect for Ant. Would not be shocked if he is suspended a game and hope he actually learns from this and can take action instead or just issuing a Klutch sports pre written apology
Anthony Edwards makes a pretty big mistake

I do not care at all about what he said. So sick of this stuff being forced to act to care about.

I realize this take of yours will probably be the majority of this boards take. I strongly disagree with it having a really good family friend who is Gay. It bothers me that it went through his mind that the car should stop, take out your phone, video tape a group of men and call them Q**** ass N****** to a group of people that were effecting his life none. Yes he is young from the south, yes this will blow over, I hope he learns from this but I expect more from your franchise superstar.
Should he be canceled no but I was super disappointed in Ant that he thought it was great to video tape and post his homophobic thoughts.

I'm confused, queer is what the Q in LGBTQ stands for so how can it be a slur?

What are you insinuating by saying you assume most here will align with my thinking?
You do not know who I am friends with, or family I have.
Those people are different. Forcing acceptance is never the answer. Tell me I am different because I like women. Will I scream and shout? It is the media who globs onto this BS to drive their loss of revenue.
Nobody gives a shit what you do at home. So sick of the forced gay or race forced narrative.

Re: Anthony Edwards makes a pretty big mistake
I was wondering when this nonsense would trickle on to the board. My opinion is that Ant was simply clowning a group of strangers for their appearances given the eccentric attire of the whole group -- not because they were assumed to be homosexual. Where he went wrong was with his choice of language, but more importantly posting it to his Instagram story.
I don't think there's anything here to actually be upset about except for Ant's judgement in making the video public. He's 21 and still has growing up to do. He needs to understand what his platform is and the consequences of the woke, bullshit cancel culture currently. The hypersensitivity of society right now is insane. The popular thing to do lately is be outraged/offended and virtue signal, especially collectively. In reality, not everything requires some big response or any kind of attention.
Ant is the same player and person now as he was a week ago. I haven't lost any respect for him. One silly decision doesn't change anything. I only wish he would be more careful with what he posts online to the public because every little thing is open to scrutiny anymore. And there's no way he should be suspended given that he didn't actually do anything.

I agree with Cam. First, I agree that Ant was simply mocking eccentric appearance, not expressing any anti-gay animus. Second, and more importantly, I agree that Ant showed poor judgment making the video public and that he needs to be more careful about what he posts. He's still young and maturing. Finally, while I don't think people should be disliked or even mocked for their sexual orientation, I agree that our society has become insanely hypersensitive.
As for what will happen to Edwards, based on recent NBA actions in similar circumstances, he'll be fined, not suspended. Here's an excerpt from a Strib article:
Edwards, 21, could be subject to league discipline in the form of a fine or suspension. Past punishments for such remarks have usually been fines.
The league fined Denver center Nikola Jokic $25,000 for a homophobic remark he made in 2018. It fined Brooklyn forward Kevin Durant $50,000 in 2021 for homophobic comments he made. Then-Sacramento guard Rajon Rondo was suspended a game in 2015 for directing homophobic comments toward an official.
Edwards figures to be an important part of the Wolves' upcoming season after averaging 21.3 points per game a season ago. The team will have high expectations after adding center Rudy Gobert in a trade with the Utah Jazz. Edwards will be entering his third NBA season with the Wolves set to begin training camp in two weeks.
Given the treatment of Jokic and Durant, if Edwards is suspended the real outrage will be the inequity in punishment.

Re: Anthony Edwards makes a pretty big mistake
If nothing else... it was really really dumb for the Edwards brand.
21 or 31, it doesn't really matter in today's game. Every young athlete is now a brand, especially with their ability to make tens of millions off the court. And we can't really claim that Edwards doesn't give an F about his brand... otherwise, he wouldn't be on Instagram in the first place.
Most of today's young stars are super media/money/brand savvy compared to the players of yesteryear, in large part because of that giant pile of money available to them.
Play nice. Post the edited workout videos. Say funny things online. Rinse, repeat. Get insanely rich. Take shots at random people for no apparent reason and you open yourself for criticism. It was a knucklehead move. And at one time, some of us were worried if Edwards was a knucklehead. Don't be a knucklehead.
Obviously this will all blow over with time. But the absurd stupidity of it should be noted.

I'm with Cam and Lip. In case you haven't noticed or aren't willing to admit it to yourself, Ant isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
