Poor Johnny Flynn. He's our Sam Bowie.

At least the Wolves avoided Hashem Thabeet.

I think guys need to be coached at a personal level and thats the type of guys flip tried to bring in before he passed. A family type environment.

Thibs could never relate and the players could never relate to thibs.

Weve seen the same things come out from rubio and now bjelly. I can't help but think how our players, in particular kat and wiggs would be under a different coach.

Im just going to mention as a counterpoint that my wife hates working in "family" type work environments. She isn't alone. Personally I dig it but it's not what everyone wants. I bet there are NBA players that are the same way.

Meanwhile Thibs seems to have found ways to relate to a number of players during his career specifically Derrick Rose. Do I think it's an overall strength? No.

Bryan Oringher @scoutwithbryan on Twitter has had an interesting viewpoint on wizards coaches where they went from player friendly Flip to Wittman then to Brooks. He says different ways to do things. I'm still wanting to see how this season plays out. Like Pat Riley told JVG if the players think you help them win they will let you coach them. There are 54 games left and the Wolves have played one of the toughest schedules in the league so far.

Flip was a great guy, but he didn't adapt to the modern NBA. He still ran plays to get guys open for 18-footers and felt that was a good shot. Mitchell was largely the same and Thibs has dinosaur tendencies as well. When can we get a coach that a) understands that mid-range shots suck, and b) can relate to players.

I didn't really mean flip the coach, more like flip the person.

So who's the Sean McVay of the NBA? That's who we should find. Someone under 35 who could possibly fill in when we need a guy. Bring back the player/coach!

Do the wolves have a player development program? I always hear comments from other teams on that stuff, but never anything out of the wolves. Do we have a strength and conditioning coach?

Just about everyone thought Curry was a no-brainer after we drafted Rubio. I was at the Wolves draft party that year. The crowed errupted with cheers after the Rubio announcement and they most in the room were chanting Curry's name with the expectation and hope that he'd be the next pick. David Kahn finally came down to talk to address the large crowd in attendance. He was beaming with pride and joy over his two picks. He referred to Rubio as a "transformational player" who might not come here for a year of two. Then he went on and one about how we're all going to LOVE Jonny Flynn. I was pretty plugged in to the organization at the time. Flynn was clearly Kahn's guy, although no one in the inner circle was arguing against that pick. The story about Curry not wanting to come here wasn't the driver behind the decision. Kahn loved Rubio and Flynn. He got his two guys and was thrilled. Of course, we're talking about the same guy who compared Darko to Divac as he gave a multi-year deal to a guy the rest of the League had already recognized as a complete bust.

Lip, I can tell you with 99% certainty that the wolves received a call from Curry's representation and were told he would not wear a Wolves jersey. Was it a bluff, could have been, but could Kahn take that chance in his position?
