Thobodeau
Crawford couldn't wait to get away from the Wolves, giving up over $4 million to become a free agent with no offers from any other team.
Teague has often publicly criticized and questioned Thibodeau's coaching, including the lack of defensive switching and even the failure to allocate some his playing time to others.
Butler says he still loves Thibodeau but he forced his way out and stomped on the guy in doing so.
Check out this quote from Belly after the last game:
"I have a coach who is trusting me," Bjelica told The Athletic after a 141-130 victory over the Timberwolves on Wednesday night. "He knows how to use me. Not just me, he knows how to use everybody on this team. We have a great atmosphere, great group of guys. It's the NBA. Everything is about opportunity..."
There is so much more to say about Thibodeau as head coach - his antiquated iso offense, his micromanage from the bench, directing every play, his rigid rotation patterns and poor in-game adjustments. Then there's his sour attitude.
I don't see how any Wolves fan could possibly want him to continue as our head coach - except maybe Glen Taylor.

Re: Thobodeau
But Jimmy Butler loves him...so, there's that.
Thibs has lost this team, and it's difficult for a team that doesn't respect the coach to realize its potential. I noted in another thread that in the past two games I went to, I had my binocs focused on the bench during timeouts and noticed most of the players were not even looking at him while he was talking. I watch bench interaction closely, and this is FAR from normal.
Sure, it's a players league, and talent is always going to be more important than coaching (and I'm going to continue to give POBO Thibs credit for assembling a team with great talent)...but a very good coach can also provide the edge that can put a team over the top. We've all seen it. I still think Glen is conflicted and thinks about moving on from Thibs every day...let's hope he makes a good decision soon.

Re: Thobodeau
Glen needs to make Hoiberg POBO and make Ryan Interm head coach if Hoiberg is on board with it. I think Hoiberg has great front office potential and if my memory is correct had a good eye for talent.

Definitely. After all both are local guys and have the resumes... oh.... wait a minute... ummm... well..... errr.... But they're sorta local and non-threatening!!!
Re: Thobodeau
Remember Hoiberg was in the draft room for Johnny Flynn! Haha. Kidding. He might be a good choice. Talent is the biggest ingredient but never before has coaching and front office been more important in the game IMO. It's changed so much in 10 years.

I'd actually prefer Hoiberg to stick around for the U of M coaching job.

He had it made in Ames and left. I think he wants to be in the NBA.

Yep. Probably.
Bad fit with his first coaching gig. That organization is really a mess the past few years.
Re: Thobodeau
As much as I want Thibs gone, the fact that this team seems to be regressing back to the mean tells me the players have just as much responsibility. We can't make trades and change coaches every ten games.
Could one of you actually look up Flynn's stats before you rip him as a draft choice. Johnny was a good PnR PG coming into the NBA and played for a coach in Rambis that all but forbid him from running it, and instead forced him into the triangle. Somehow the kid still put up respectable numbers. The only negative is that he suffered a career ending injury.
