Would rather have a good coach, Dunn, Zach and to have continued the course we were on. You should make a move for a guy like Butler when you are close, we weren't close.

This thought has been in my head a lot lately, so I'm kind of right there with you, but getting Butler definitely helped us make the playoffs and somewhat get the ship heading in the right direction. We needed a playoff berth in the worst way. Could we have continued the developmental route and still made the playoffs? I think that's an interesting question that none of us can answer for sure, but it just feels like the cupboard isn't as full as it once was and yet we're still quite a bit off from really contending.

Would we rather have Butler, Towns, Wiggins, Jones, Patton, and post-season experience, or Towns, Wiggins, LaVine, Markkenen, Dunn, Jones, and a slightly better cap situation right now? Makes you think.

PS: We could just as easily fire Thibodeau and deal Butler (and others) to get back to that situation, so if the next regime decided they wanted to retool, they totally could in a heartbeat.

Man Doogie's whispers are snowballing out of control. People got to keep it together. One all star appearance and KAT wants out. This is silly.

That's exactly the problem as I see it.

I think I look at it a lot different from what I'm hearing in this thread. To me our objective for now should be to be relevant while maintaining some reasonable building blocks for when KAT or Wiggins (or both) are the veterans. No one is de-throning GS for a few years. I'd rather be relevant and in the playoffs then rebuilding and having even stronger rumours of Wiggins and KAT wanting out because of our loser culture. Saying we'd be better off losing and acquiring more young assets at this point is insane to me. Unless you just believe that KAT is not a high level talent. There has been hardly anything to show that Dunn and Lavine were good for anything beyond getting you lottery balls. We are way better off as a franchise now than we were by any stretch of logic in spite of those who have an interest in seeing KAT leave (Windhorst) say.

Doper, better off? Perhaps but far from good enough. There is always a short and long term component to consider. It was fun making the playoffs, but at the end of the day it really doesn't mean much. I think our future should look much brighter than it does today.

Can we please start a fire Doogie petition? I have never heard the guy cite a source in anything.

Winning is better off long term. If you keep losing you will lose the interest of your stars, then goodbye, KAT, Wiggins, and any free agent. KAT will get his chance to lead this team, but his play to date showed that he isn't as ready as we'd hoped yet. Being relevant keeps us more flexible than being in the lottery, especially with the diminishing value of Dunn and Lavine. After Lavine's stats for this year and an extension coming up what would we have gotten as a desperate lottery team? The answer is simply not a whole lot, people are saying Wiggins trade value is down, well look at what are options would have been if we didn't get Butler.

I get the Wolfson angst he should use some discretion (which he said he did about Jake Cave lol). Having said that FWIW Wolfson's tweets basically report basically nothing is reaching worrisome issues with Thibs and Towns and basically saying neither guy is going anywhere. Personally I'm out of these threads about Towns getting traded. It doesn't add up. For one thing if Glen had to be convinced to deal Rubio and they got a 1st round pick for him...my goodness what kind of haul would it take to actually move Towns and convince Glen to do it? I'm gonna go watch some draft videos now.

I agree with you completely on this, Cool.
