Re: NBA Post-Up Game to Bring You Its Rebirth
Lipoli has provided a very concise description of Jahlil Okafor, and I concur with his assessment. While he is enormously talented in some areas, defense, free throw shooting and outside shooting are true weaknesses, and these are key components of the game. I haven't read all of the threads, but has anyone provided a comparable weakness list for KAT? It seems to be that the areas where he was not strong early in the year, such as low post game, he has shown the ability to learn and improve. That's why he is my choice...already very good in many areas, but with a demonstrable ability to get better. Okafor hasn't shown any evidence that he can improve on his weaknesses.

- Bites on pump fakes more than he should; leads to unnecessary fouls.
- Average, but improving, footwork in the low-post.
- Inconsistent season at Kentucky due to platoon role and foul trouble.
- Large feet may indicate that he's still growing, which could potentially slow him down a tad.
- Better leaper off one foot than two.
- Will need to learn to be more patient sometimes when switching back to his big man in P&R. Does a solid job already, but could improve.
- Could use a little more strength in the legs to help him battle for position in the post, both offense and defense.
- Has an NBA body already, but hasn't filled out completely. Could be bigger than he already is with weight room work, if need be.

A couple things I will add from the article and try conversation.
When they talked about playmaking 4's in the article Bjelica easily came to mind.
After playing a lot of bad city league basketball that quite frankly is more like the NBA game than it isn't in how it's played you don't really care if your big is near the hoop or not if he won't post up and look to score. One of our big guys has the skills and depending on the teams we play the size but he just isn't aggressive enough. There are a lot of those types in the leagues we play in or guys that play more perimeter oriented. Some of them probably because they used to be that type of player when they played a higher level of basketball. Anyway my point is if you have a guy that can do damage in the paint even maybe a guy like DeAndre Jordan on lobs or Pek getting to good spots and finishing that's great to have a guy there but if you don't just spread the heck out and not clog things up for people cutting etc. Okafor should be plenty useful in the paint area on offense. Does that blend well with the other guys on your team? To me it doesn't when you have Wiggins and Bazz plus you have no idea who the PF will be long term for this team. That doesn't mean you can't make it work though but I could see it being something that may be tough to figure out. It sucks when you have a bunch of guys that all score in the same spots on the floor. One year in city league we had like half the team that really worked well scoring around the FT line. That didn't work out so well. Our GM really sucks. Lol
