I think everyone would agree with this take, TKRO. I don't know how anyone could conclude that Okafor is the better prospect though. Towns should be Flip's choice because he is BPA. It's just a bonus that he fits our needs better.

I agreed that Towns was better until today when I went back and watched some stuff on YouTube. It's such a close call on either. I think it's a tie.

That's one way to look at it. But if Pek is healthy and you draft Okafor....how much did we actually improve the team? As you mentioned - they wouldn't seem like ideal fits together. A healthy Pek is actually a pretty decent player and he's going to get paid $12M/year.

I agree with you drafting Best Player Available is generally better than drafting for need. But everything I've read so far seems to indicates it's a coin flip between Okafor & Towns. If that's true, then it would make sense to consider need/fit IMO.

If they are rated equal, then yes go with fit. If Okafor is the best guy then pick him. Pek isn't durable or good enough to dictate who we pick.

Looked like the same moves he's tried in his first two years... And he was in shape to begin last season...

Good to see he's in the gym and working, I guess. Good for him. Earning his paychecks. I can't hate on that.

I don't think it's always that's cut and dried to determine who's the better player or by how much. That's why fit factors into things. In fact, I saw someone else posted this quote by Flip in another thread:

"I think both [Okafor and Towns] are going to be All-Star type players, but I think when we look at anybody that we look at in the draft, it's about how they will fit in with the players that we have, what their dynamic is and how we want to play," Saunders said.

And for the record, Pek has played in a greater percentage of available games than Rubio (68% to 65%) and has a better WS/48 than him too (.14 to .09). Finally, Pek was the highest paid guy on the team last year. For those reasons, I think he has to be part of the conversation when determining who we pick.

He has one more shot next season. Hopefully he takes advantage. Not holding my breath though, but happy he is putting the effort into it.

Correct, Cam...AB's issue last year was not conditioning. Still, I'm glad to see him working with Drew Hanlen. This guy is a genius and very highly regarded in the NBA. He has worked with some of the best (even though he is only in his mid 20's, I think) and gotten results.

I didn't really think AB needed to improve his shot mechanics, but I have no problem with him tweaking it a bit. I think AB's issues are confidence and a tendency to drift outside. If he can be convinced to work inside and utilize his extraordinary physical gifts, and also occasionally pop from the outside (including 3's), he can still live up to his enormous potential.

I'm staying skeptical, and the Wolves have enough pieces if AB never pans out. But what a bonus it would be if AB figured it out and became the UNLV Bennett.

Hopefully with a full offseason he will be able to hit his stride. He is still very young, so dumping him now wouldn't be too wise. Back in the day he would be heading for his senior year in college. Have to be extra patient with the one and done rookies. They are still kids.

This is a very small sample video so maybe there is no difference in his shot but it MAY look like he changed his shot to be more fluid in a way that makes him less of just a set jump shooter and more of a guy that can score off a move. Hopefully I can explain what I mean but I may fail. Lol His set shot last year looked good but it was somewhat static up and down shot. I would compare it to a certain extent to the classic perfect jump shot that Wayne Ellington had/s and that was great for jumpers it didn't lend itself for scoring in any other way. Bennett's jump shot wasn't quite that limited last year but here it looks more like he is not doing that jump shot with his feet spread evenly apart and wide but off one foot. His upper body mechanics seem a little more like a classic scorer. I know I am lilely over analyzing this short clip but I MAY see some things that COULD matter. To me the key to any jump shot is the release combined with timing of your shot (shooting at the right point off your life mechanics all going at the right time) and Bennett had a beautiful release so if he can continue to have that and find good timing with any changes in mechanics it could net results. That's no small task. I am not holding my breath but like Cam said at least he is working. There were lots of reports he worked hard last year so that's good. Like I've said before he seems to be a good guy hopefully he has a good offseason and takes a step forward to have success no matter where he ends up.

I thought Bennett's problems last year were more mental than physical, including what is a good scoring opportunity and what is not. Hopefully experience can help sort that stuff out...
