If we pick Towns I'm not so sure it's a lock Okafor goes 2.

I get Towns fills a need, but my gut says that Russell will make the biggest impact in the NBA. I would shop Rubio and maybe we could get the Kings to give up the 6th pick for Rubio and Martin.
Barf
Rubio for #6 idk but adding martin is too much plus the Kings have plenty of SGs. Curious who are you hoping for at #6 in this scenario?

The excitement is real! Now the pressure is on, assuming we keep the pick we need to get it right since we have our choice of everyone available. We need to take the best player regardless of position or the media's idea of who should be #1.
Right now I'm thinking that Okafor is the guy. I'm not a big fan of comparisons because 2 players never really turn out the same but the Duncan comparison seems accurate, at least offensively. Defensively the comparison breaks down, they're similar in size and athleticism but Duncan seems to play a little longer and has good timing on rotations when protecting the rim.

Yeah Russell makes a lot of sense there.
Knicks drop to #4 but this draft it might not be all that bad. It's going to be interesting how things play out up to the draft and of course beyond seeing how these players turn out.

1 thing though, I didnt want the lakers to get a top 2 pick here and they got it. They are going to have a quick rebuild and be a competition for us in the playoff race. A towns/okafor and if they could add love to team with kobe and clarkson then you have something going for them.
Randle is a nice piece also.
Forgot about randle. The lakers being the only team to move up in the draft and getting the 2nd pick and a chance at towns/okafor really help them. They have cap sapce or 1 max guy and not to mention kobe and 2 young pieces in clarkson and randle and add being in los angeles and more cap money the following year, they where big winners in the lottery.
The west is getting tougher every year. You have the jazz on the rise as well and okc with a healthy durant is a sure playoff team as well. Its getting harder and harder to get into the playoffs in the west.

It would be worthwhile to compare their freshman years in college. Duncan averaged almost 4 blocks a game his freshman year and his college career. Okafor averaged 1.4 at Duke. That's a pretty big difference. Just sayin

And just 9.8 PPG. Maybe Okafor could have improved his defensive game like Duncan improved his offensive game over the next three years. Who knows. Okafor, Towns, Russell are all just freshmen. All three have room for growth.

This thread should somehow filter/block the word "trade." We just won the f*cking lottery (figuratively and literally speaking). While I am a firm believer in drafting the BPA available in any sport, this team needs a franchise big that can pair with Wiggins for the next 10+ years.
Oh, and having KG to mentor Okafor or Towns isn't too shabby either.

Monster - I don't think it is to much. It would be a home coming for Martin. They thought about Rubio. It would be a trade that makes sense for them to try and win now. I would be thinking big. WCS, Kaminsky, Porzingis, and Portis. It is tough spot since it would be a good place to trade down for some of these guys.
