But despite that, we have the 10th ranked defense in the NBA because we give up so few free throws, do a good job on the defensive glass, and create a lot more turnovers than we give up. When you limit your opponents' shot attempts and don't give them free throws, that counts as "good defense".

Still, it seems pretty unacceptable to me that we're dead last in opponent FG%. If we were just average, or even slightly below average, we'd probably be a top 5 defense because of the other things we do well. Why Adelman hasn't been sprinkling in minutes for Dieng is beyond me.

Just curious Q, what are the metrics ranking our D to make us 10th? Our points against and points per 100 possessions are burtal. Because it seems in this last stretch of games our D has been absolutely brutal. Our interior D includes our crappy play in transition too I assume. As for improvement I do agree with you. Some energy to defensive strategy and how we guard the interior and we can really improve our team and overall our win losses.

Just for reference this article states we have one of the worst Point per possession marks but I can't find the hard stats on the net:

Doper, They allow 104.3 points per 100 possessions, making them tied for 9th. The article you mentioned above must either be referring to the month of December only or it simply has its facts wrong.

Most of the information I get comes from the very excellent basketball-reference.com

Yeah I thought that was strange. Because I couldn't find a stat to compliment what he was saying. If it was for December I guess that would make sense for that stretch of games where the D seeming exceedingly bad.
