I'm pretty sure it's already been hinted that Robinson wasn't going overseas. I don't remember who said it, but I believe it was reported. Also, Flip has shown no indication that he won't fit him on the roster somehow.

My biggest thing was why even bring back Hummel, especially at the time of that deal. It made zero sense. And then the talk became Hummel vs Robinson, and I'll take the 20 year old with good potential every time.

It was reported Cam. I don't doubt that Flip would like to fit Glenn on the roster but it still may not be practical when it comes down to finalizing the roster. That said it may have been hinted that he won't go overseas but it was also hinted that the Cavs wouldn't trade Wiggins. Things change. If Glenn is facing no roster spot in Minnesota, if Flip won't renounce his rights and he is offered real money in Europe, he'd be a fool not to go. Flip will keep him close and give it a go next summer.

I like gr3 as a d-league guy for us next season. There just isnt going to be playing time available for him on the squad next season as we are 3 deep at both wing position and thats not counting thad playing the 3 or mo playing alongside rubio or even hummel.

I dont think this needs to be a gr3 vs hummel thing. Both are minimum guys and ideally you want your 13-15th guy making the minimum.

What I could see happen is we made a 2 for one or a 3 for 2 trade that open up a spot for robinson. We are stacked at the wings and i could see us trading 1 and pairing him with jj in a trade for 1 player or two wings along with jj for 2 players. That will open up a spot for robinson. That said, even if we sign robinson. He will likely spend most of the season honing his skills @ the d-league or in suits besides hummel.

GR3 was a guy I had on my list of guys I wanted late in the 1st round or in the 2nd. He was there at 40 and I was thrilled. Cam he does sorta dissappear at times because he has a glue guy team mentality. Honest that's partly why I like him. He already plays as a complimentary player and has an unselfish mindset. He is a young cheap raw talent. He has issues with size and holes in his game. I'm not sure where he fit especially adding Wiggins but who knows what wings will be around in a year. GR3 could be that solid young cheap bench guy good teams get going and help them down the road.

Personally I'm not worried about it. I think its really clear Flip really likes him. If they want a spot they can just cut JJ if they want. They have europe as an option if GR3's. Camp changes their mind or he. Could also end up signing on for the d-league and we keep his rights.

The natural idea that its either Hummel of GR3 makes sense but to me its clear we can have both. I like Hummel and have said so multiple times. I think he is much more useful than people give him credit for.

GR3 needs to work on his perimeter game after playing a lot as a big. For Michigan last year which is partly why he didn't take jumpers etc. GR3 isn't really that long he needs to be able to guard SG if he wants to make it in this league. He is a guy that needs to be developed. He seems like a guy that both needs to play and also a guy that would benefit from being in a system and/or playing with a passing PG. I wish that the Wolves had their own D_league team. I bet Flip does too.

Just get rid of Barea already! That way we can have both GR3 and Hummel as cheap 14 and 15th spot holders. This shouldn't even be a debate.

Barea's the odd man out and arguably Bud too.

Ehh, you could say Jimmy Butler and Shane Battier disappear as well. As long as an impact is made, and stats show that Robinson had a sizeable impact for Michigan, then I don't really mind if he isn't the brightest (light reference, not intelligence) player on the court. I think he's got that team-first mentality, and sometimes it bites him a little bit offensively. He needs to be more aggressive.

A lot of posts debating the merits of the team's deepest bench players.

On one hand, it's great to see the passion for this team. And on this forum. One the other, it won't matter in the least this season for the Wolves.

For good reason, he's got better upside than many on the roster. He was pretty much the athletic equal of LaVine and this board has raved about him. He actually tied or eclipsed LaVine in Vertical jump measurements and speed. LaVine beat him in the agility test. Bennett and Shabazz aren't nearly the athlete as GR3. He's raw, but so are most of our young guys and the upside is pretty high so you try to develop him. And yes, why wouldn't he have a spot over Hummel or Barea, guys that are limited. He'll have the cheapest contract too and that's big.

One other point about GR3, during his freshman year playing with Burke, he was ranked as one of the most efficient offensive players in college basketball. Quiet, but very efficient and has all the tools to be a plus defender. He's the perfect glue guy and I love his team first attitude.

I wish nothing but the best for GRIII, and hope he develops into a rotation player. But the original poster had the right idea. Why are we talking so much, and are so obsessed over a guy who isn't going to make an impact this year, and maybe never?
