Re: Why dont we want Waiters?
I'd be good with Waiters being involved in a deal, he actually looked pretty good as a starter at the end of last season.

I am torn. He would be the most proven player in the trade, but he has a questionable attitude and plays the same position as LaVine. I will trust Flip on this. If Flip thinks LaVine is the future and in 3 years it is his position I could see flipping him for Young. Young is a better fit for the team and would be a good mentor for Bennett. I don't see why they both couldn't play at the same time.

+1 Bleed
Rubio, LeVine and Wiggins are our future starting PG and wings (hopefully anyway). Even though Waiters could get plenty of minutes behind them I can't see him being happy about coming off the bench. He could be a pretty good 6th man though!

I am optimistically hoping LaVine is the 6th man by the end of next year. Mo Williams could be for the beginning of the season.

Re: Why dont we want Waiters?
Most of us talk about LaVine being the SG of the future, and I think we do that out of necessity...because we want him to start, and we want Rubio to be here long-term. But he thinks of himself as a PG, was used exclusively there in SL, and looked hopelessly out of place playing SG at UCLA. His game really seems to come alive when he has the ball all the time...doesn't seen to get lost like he did at UCLA. Are we trying to force him into an unnatural position just because of the presence of Ricky? It seems odd that Flip wouldn't have given LaVine at least a few minutes at SG during SL if he had plans to play him there this season.
I suspect that is why Flip needs Waiters in this deal. I believe he thinks we are ell set at PG with Ricky, Mo and Zach, but SG remains an issue...especially if Martin is dealt. Perhaps he sees Zach as a SG long-term, but it certainly seems he is thinking of him as a PG currently.

We are expecting a lot out of LaVine right now but I was really impressed with him in SL. He did play off the ball in SL but played more PG than I was expecting partly he got those minutes because he looked so comfortable there. Real SGs handle the ball a lot I don't really worry too much about Zach not working as a SG but your point is valid.
Just to clarify I wouldn't mind Waiters coming over in a trade but I assume the Cavs value him so maybe I'd rather have something else. There are just too many unknowns at this point.

Re: Why dont we want Waiters?
A fair question LST, we're all trying to envision our perfect, balanced lineup for the future. We don't want Rubio and Lavine fighting over ball handling duties. I don't think Waiters is the answer though. I just think it's a bad idea to bring him in here. I'm ok with Martin/Bud/Bazz/Brewer and grooming LaVine and Wiggins to start at the 2 and 3 the following year.

I was going to say I swear I saw him at SG during SL a little, especially early on with Shved at PG. I think some of the reason he played PG in SL was to see how he did at this level & get him work there knowing he won't get as much time there during the season b/c of Rubio and whichever vet they brought in which turned out to be Williams.

Lavine will be our sg of the future paired with rubio. Yea he may see himself as a pg and play most of his career as one but it makes no difference as teams play 2 pg's a lot these daya and the suns started 2 pg. Having a capable and very god secondary ball handler is a very good thing to have now in the league.
Rubio started with luke majority of his first 2 years here and rubio-jj backcourt combo has been one of the better combo we had and the best use off jj so far as a wolf. Rubio can play with anybody and zach being a athletic 6'6 scoring guard with shooting ability and fast break finishing ability would be ideal partner with rubio and can be that secondary playmaker/ball handler/ facilitator for the team.

Re: Why dont we want Waiters?
Because in order for Flip to not look stupid for selecting LaVine, he would have to hope Waiters fails, and that's awkward
