Potential PG Trade Targets
Re: Potential PG Trade Targets
I watched a lot of Tre Jones as he is on my fantasy team. He's a good game manager like his brother, great facilitator, has a real nice float game and he racks up a lot of steals with his quick hands. He along with Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson are the core starters. Keep in mind the Spurs have a ton of money. Why on earth would the Spurs not match any offer the Wolves make for Tre? They would and no team will even bother with an offer in which Spurs are certain to match. The Wolves blew it when they drafted Bolmaro when they could have had Tre Jones or Desmond Bane instead. Good thing they didn't blow their other first round picks.
Re: Potential PG Trade Targets
Well, my conclusion from this discussion is that neither J-Mac or Tre Jones are PG options for us. Let's move on....
(I was on the J-Mac train for a while, but what I saw in the playoffs was someone who had devolved to becoming unplayable. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt if he were still just a 23 year old unconventional rookie like he was a few years ago, but he's 26 years old now! He ain't getting any better).

Re: Potential PG Trade Targets
I’m waiting for KG4ever to tell us if there’s a PG the Wolves should pick at 53!
Re: Potential PG Trade Targets
I don't think so. I looked at his stats and he's nowhere close to contributing. Might as well keep him in Europe and let him develop without eating a roster spot. I think he's less ready than Bolmaro was when he was brought in. I'd rather give the roster spot to Kennedy Chandler who I think is more ready and has a much higher ceiling.
Re: Potential PG Trade Targets
Finding an heir apparent to Conley is a priority, but I don't know that it happens this summer. A more pressing need is a reasonable backup PG that bumps JMac off the roster, or at the very least moves him to the 3rd PG role (although isn't Moore's likely role?).
Anyway, a veteran backup PG target could be someone like Corey Joseph. Or maybe they look into Kemba Walker's rehab? And as previously mentioned, PatBev is not a far-fetched idea...

Re: Potential PG Trade Targets
If we could get Beverly for the vet min to replace Rivers role then that would probably be a pretty big upgrade and I value Rivers more than most. If it takes using the BAE to get Beverly I’d be willing to do that.
Shake Milton is a guy I’ve always liked a bit. He is a good name to bring up. I think the question to ask is how much better is he than NAW? I like Shake better but idk what the cost difference would be. Of course it’s possible we could have both players on the roster but yeah.
Tre Jones…yeah San Antonio isn’t gonna let him go for nothing. What if someone offered up something decent in a sign and trade? He turned 23 in January and has made some improvements over each year. What is his upside? Idk might be a high end bench guy.
It would be interesting to know what the price is for a Magic PG.
Spangnolo has done some good things this season particularly down the stretch where he played well especially getting tot he FT like like a star player. I’d bring him over for summer league (maybe he will actually play for team Italy this year) and see what happens but most likely I’d let him have at least another year in international play. The Wolves should have left Bolmoro overseas for another year if for no other reason to have another roster spot. Cam got that one right. Spangnolo to me is a guy I hope can be a nice rotation guard. I’m not hoping for him to be the answer for anything.
Ultimately I lol at the Wolves adding their PG of the future the best way may be to add as much value to the roster as possible so they can make a trade at some point. That may mean resigning Naz to a reasonable deal and taking a couple shots at some young guys who if they just end up being worthwhile bench guys that’s fine.
On the Athletic Hollinger wrote an article about the all-vet min team. There are teams in the playoffs right now that have undrafted guards playing starting and or significant roles. There are guards in the league right now I would love to have on the wolves that were not drafted. That type of thing shouldn’t be dismissed. Ever roster spot is important and Connelly has unearthed guys outside of the first round. It’s time for the wolves to get another undrafted worthwhile player. Also I believe in McLaughlin being worth keeping on the roster. We need to upgrade from him as the backup PG but I believe he is a guy that can help as a depth player and is more of the worthwhile guy we have seen most of his career than the guy we saw the last few weeks of Wolves games.

Re: Potential PG Trade Targets
Wolves to work out Sharieef Cooper in 2 weeks at their free agent training camp. I know this name has been mentioned in the past so that is why I’m posting it
Re: Potential PG Trade Targets
Thanks, Kek. I hadn’t seen that report. I was one of those who previously mentioned Cooper as a young PG the Wolves should consider. He and McClung were the two undrafted G-League PGs that intrigue me as possible successors to Conley.
Re: Potential PG Trade Targets
Cooper is an interesting prospect, but I'm not sure he's what we are looking for in a backup PG. I think I would call him Scoot Henderson light. Exciting athlete able to get to the bucket, but a poor 3-point shooter, an erratic playmaker (almost 4 TOs per game) and an undersized defender easy to exploit. We'll have to see, but I'm skeptical.
