We have to remember with the new CBA Kat has to be the 2nd best player long term on your team. He has yet to prove he can be a top 2 player on a borderline contender or even a top half seed in the league.
Once Kat gets traded I feel like people are going to be super disappointed in the return. We won’t get Scoot, Sharpe and picks. We’ll get one of those guys.
We are not getting bridges, bridges has a lot more value than Kat around the league.
Once again I don’t think the Simmons trade is great but setting us up long term for Ant future. We would probably get 4 or 5 1sts and a rookie the nets drafted. Wolves would still be a solid team, have long term assets and would have massive cap space to reset when Ant and Jaden are turning 24 and 25.
Right now if Kat is not traded it’s Ant and Kat until Ant turns 27 and can walk on FA and we can’t stop him.
I don’t love the Simmons trade but for the wolves long term future around Kat it might be the best there is going to be
Ben Simmons
Re: Ben Simmons
Nice job making the case, kek. I agree, by the way, that KAT’s value is less than Bridges’ value. But let’s not forget that KAT led the Wolves to a 46-win season after which the Wolves took Memphis to 6 games and I think we probably win the series if our starting PG didn’t play as horribly as any starting PG could possibly play. Remember, Ant and Jaden weren’t nearly as good that season as they were last season. KAT was the only bona fide all-star on the Wolves. He was, in fact, the team’s #1. That says a lot about how well a team could do with KAT as their #2. The only time KAT has ever had another allstar caliber teammate was the year we had Jimmy Butler. Recall that, if not for Jimmy’s injury that caused him to miss over 20 games, the Wolves would have probably been a top 4 team. Note also that KAT was only 22 years old at the time.kekgeek wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 11:01 pm We have to remember with the new CBA Kat has to be the 2nd best player long term on your team. KAT may not have changed the game.

Re: Ben Simmons
This will probably be my last post on this subject but I’d guess the idea behind any Nets trade with Simmons and a bunch of draft picks wouldn’t mean the Wolves would end up with Simmons a rookie and a bunch of draft picks. The Wolves would likely move some of those picks for a player that helps them now. Who? Im not gonna take the time to consider that but I’d guess 3 first round picks (probably still have some draft picks left) or whatever could land then someone worth helping out. It’s not a perfect way of looking at things but it would be a little weird that they traded all those picks to get Towns and then essentially trade Towns for a return of a bunch of picks.

Wolves trade: KAT, Rudy, MacLaughlin & Moore
Woves get: Dejounte Murray, OKongwu, Ben Simmons, Bogdanovic and one first.
Bkn trades: Ben Simmons, Royce O'Neal and three firsts
Bkn receives: KAT, Moore
Atlanta trades: DeJounte Murray, Okongwu, Bogdanovic
Atlanta receives: Gobert, O'Neale, McLaughlin plus two firsts from Bkn.
I just read Pro Sports Daily and they had a very similar trade proposal to the one I mentioned with KAT traded and DeJounte Murray, Okongwu, Bogdanovic and one first coming back. The only difference is they added a second first rounder instead of Ben Simmons. I'd do that deal!

Atlanta Hawks Receive: Karl-Anthony Towns
Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: Dejounte Murray, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Onyeka Okongwu, 2024 First-Round Pick from Sacramento Kings, 2029 First-Round Pick
No doubt, acquiring Karl-Anthony Towns would provide the Hawks with a dominant inside presence who excels in scoring, rebounding, and rim protection. Towns' offensive versatility, including his ability to stretch the floor with his three-point shooting, would greatly enhance the Hawks' offensive firepower and provide a focal point for their half-court sets. Towns' skill set would complement Trae Young's playmaking and scoring abilities exceptionally well.

While I don't disagree with your logic, the Nets aren't gonna pay that much to dump Ben.kekgeek wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 11:01 pm We have to remember with the new CBA Kat has to be the 2nd best player long term on your team. Re: Ben Simmons
Anybody here talking about moving KAT in a trade for Ben Simmons involved and picks as the backbone is insane. KAT has his faults, but he is a bona-fide offensive star, and actually speaks about liking it here. That hasn't happened since KG. Nobody knows if Simmons even wants to play basketball, let alone how hurt he actually is.
Rudy for him and whatever + all picks and whatever else we want and I can start to make sense of it a bit. If we tell him to stay at home until he gets right or his contract is up..
Otherwise, I want him nowhere near Ant, Jaden, Naz, hopefully NAW, and the rest of our young guys.
KAT should only be involved in a blue chip package. A top 5 pick + whatever else you demand, or in a package for another star player in the 24-30 year old range that better fits your roster (I don't know that there is one).
