That’s right. Everyone knows that a healthy KAT will average 24/10/5. His recent illnesses and injuries have been freak things and not the kinds of things that involve structural damage or that tend to repeat themselves. He’s not coming off an ACL or Achilles tear. So I think it’s a big of a myth that KAT’s value is low because of last season. The League knows the kind of player he is and there’s no reason to expect he won’t be health and back to where he was the season before last.

I think value will improve once everyone is ok with the functional reality of the new cba. Getting through this first round of free agency will be part of setting the market. Towns value is low because of his contract relative to his winning, not his stats from last year. More teams will emerge wanting to take on more talent as the bar gets set by those not being as cautious about the new CBA.

Yep.

It's not like teams seriously think Towns got that much worse in one season during his prime years. He's still considered an ungodly gifted offensive basketball player.

The questions are whether his strengths (and obvious warts) justify his upcoming HUGE contract... and what's it worth to find out?

I know KAT is an offensive machine, but for me his inability to just play basketball without constantly complaining has taken its toll on my opinion of him.

This being the Wolves, they'll trade him and he'll go into have an MVP season and win a championship.

This being the Wolves, they'll keep him and see his value drop while his contract becomes unmanageable and unmovable.
