I agree with FNG. Once the baby is born what is there really for him to do? Would you also respect him if he took a week off and missed several games? Two weeks? The rest of the playoffs? At one point do you draw the line? At some point you have to also be there for your other family and teammates too. If I were in his position I would play.

Maybe the late start works in our favor. From Dane Moore:

Asking around a bit about Rudy Gobert, and there seems to be optimism that Gobert will be able to get back by game time tonight. The later tip helps (8pm MT).

I mean, the T-Wolves and their owners I assume would do anything and everything in their power to help facilitate his travel back. Plus you gain an hour on the trip back to Denver since he's heading west by one time zone. I bet he makes it.

I think the questionable designation is simply being applied because theoretically something could go wrong with the logistics, such as bad weather or air traffic issues, etc. as opposed to Rudy and his wife being unsure if he can leave mother and baby.

....and lastly, if you can put any doubt in your opponents' mind about the availability of your roster, you do it.

Yeah, but have you seen the traffic between the airport and the arena?!? It's a long ways with frequent backups...

Do we have a helicopter?!? :D

Ha, great find, jester! Probably one of Glen's jets, huh?

It may be that this entire thing was orchestrated from the start. Rudy arranging to have mama induced this morning and also arranging for transportation with Glen. Who knows, but it looks like Rudy may have taken care of both his family and his stakeholders on this one if it all works out.

And it may turn out to be a positive for the Wolves. I can only speak from my experience, but I was so sky high after the birth of my first that I could have completed my first successful dunk! Rudy may be a little tired, but he also may have a little extra adrenaline going. But again, who knows if he makes it, and in what kind of condition he'll be in if he does. The Vegas line moved up to 6 1/2 when he was listed as questionable, and hasn't come back yet.

The Timberwolves are only good once or twice a millenium for chrissakes.
Ahahaha. I know my childlessness may make my vote not count, but I gotta agree with this.

The plane in Jester's link is owned by NetJets, which allows for fractional ownership and subscriptions to use a private jet for those that don't want to have one or may not need one all to themselves. If you look at the flight record of that particular jet, it did not make a trip from Denver to Minneapolis, so I don't think it's literally Glen's jet. However, Glen or one of the other owners may have a subscription with NetJets and I believe there was a different NetJets plane that indeed DID make the trip from Broomfield to MSP on Sunday. So this could very well be Rudy's return flight! We can all follow it on FlightAware!

I've had a couple kids, Sag, and I also agree. I was fortunate to be at both deliveries, and I will say it is a wonderful experience. But Rudy is different from me and most of the people (all?) on this board. When my babies were being born, I had very few stakeholders in the process...mostly my wife and my boss, and maybe a couple clients. And I'd have to check my tax returns, but I think I also wasn't making $30 mill a year. The reason Rudy makes that much is because he has thousands of people invested in whether he shows up tonight or not...teammates, ownership, the betting public, and thousands of fans. He owes them. He's already made a family unfriendly decision in becoming a pro basketball player. He's going to be traveling much of the year, and is going to miss several moments...first steps, birthday parties, etc. That's why he makes the big bucks. It would be selfish for him to pick this moment...when his team is on the cusp of doing something they have never done before...to say "Hey, I'm deciding to be family first just for this moment". I call BS.

Dane Moore is reporting there is a lot of optimism in Denver about Rudy showing up. Let's hope he's right.
