Sure is, but he's much younger than Gobert and we essentially gave up the same package.
Around the league offseason
Re: Around the league offseason
Magic should contend in the East next year, if their big 4 is healthy, with Suggs, Bane, Wagner and Banchero. Their biggest hole is at center and they sure could use a Rudy Gobert. The problem is that I wouldn't consider a Gobert trade unless we got back one of their big 4 or got at least several FRPs, which they no longer have. Not sure if they have capspace after this trade to go upgrade Wendell Carter, but if they can look out. They also have a weak bench, so that's another area they'll need to address.

Rudy was also better than Bane. But I don’t hate it for the magic it’s the sticker price that is a little shocking

Think of it another way Luka only brought back one first.WildWolf2813 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 7:32 pmyou literally described why everyone thought Connelly was a moron for acquiring Gobert.Coolbreeze44 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 4:53 pmI don't know man. Houstan didn't pan out.
Jett Howard as a lotto pick didn't pan out.
Signing KCP didn't pan out.
Anthony Black is awful offensively.
They decided to pay full price for what Bane brings. They believe in their core and wanna add to it and see the East is open. They're going for it. I don't mind it.
Memphis would do a better job with those picks than Memphis would. Unlike some of y'all, I would be open to the idea of Ja here. Say what you want about our guys, Ant included, but they're a close locker room with a good stable culture with new vibrant ownership. Ja has his flaws on the court, but from an off the court standpoint, this is a franchise that has become appealing for players who wouldn't mind a change of scenery to get themselves right.
the 4 first and swaps here and there are the trade equivalent of a max. Now you'll see guys who you figured weren't good enough to warrant that, get trade as a trade return, same way we think some guys don't deserve max deals are getting them.

The Mavs also got an All NBA player back and a solid young rotation piece. Still a terrible trade but context matters.Coolbreeze44 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 10:31 pmThink of it another way Luka only brought back one first.WildWolf2813 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 7:32 pmyou literally described why everyone thought Connelly was a moron for acquiring Gobert.Coolbreeze44 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 4:53 pm

Biggest need at Center and they could use Rudy? Huh? They had the 2nd best defense in the NBA this season and have an abundance of bigs. They need shooters and not sure there is enough of it yet even with the addition of Bane.KG4Ever wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 9:38 pm Magic should contend in the East next year, if their big 4 is healthy, with Suggs, Bane, Wagner and Banchero. Jrue on his last leg for Simon's and 2 2nds. What is Portland doing?

Holiday is still but that contract is a rough one. I guess he can bring vet leadership. I’m not sure Simons is good or not.Crazysauce wrote: ↑Mon Jun 23, 2025 11:02 pm Jrue on his last leg for Simon's and 2 2nds. What is Portland doing?
