I’ll add that I admire the way the Knicks organization has built their current team. I typically prefer teams that build primarily through the draft and I believe history shows that’s the best approach for all but a couple true destination franchises. Nevertheless, what I admire about the Knicks is that they didn’t really go big-game hunting for aging former MVP-caliber guys. Instead, they went after and acquired really good vets in their prime — all about the same age. Instead of trading for Durant, Harden or Irving, they went for Brunson, Anunoby, Bridges, Hart and KAT. What they did was smart and strategic - understanding that one former MVP candidate in his early to mid 30s is unlikely to get you anything other than disappointment and a lack of tradable assets.
Unfortunately, I’m afraid the Spurs will win this series. Mostly, I hope it’s a fun series and goes seven games.
