Lol. Not a great night for those guys. But how many points did Rudy have last night? :)

Vando actually had a pretty good season overall and fit well here last season. I’d love to have Vando and Beasley back if it also meant getting Kessler and our four future 1st-round picks back as well as eliminating a super-max contract that gives us way less than super-max production and gets himself suspended by punching a teammate for saying mean things to him.

Conley looks like a nice step up from DLO. And we can see moments of possibility with NAW. Add the two future 2nd-round picks and it’s hard not to be really happy with that deal.
I was gonna post that one of the miscalculations of the Gobert deal which really had very little to do with trading for Gobert was moving Beasley making way for Nowell. The thing is though Beasley really hasn’t been that good this year for either Utah or the Lakers as his 3 point percentage has been just ok. His TS percentage for the season is 53.1%. Nowell who has struggled this year from 3 is 52.7%. That’s not a big difference. They are very different offensive players with their own strengths and flaws. Nowell can really get you a bucket inside the 3 point line. Beasley is a streaky volume 3 point shooter that’s also a guy that runs and gets some transition buckets which is an even bigger strength for Nowell. The Wolves missed Beasley this year but the version from this season probably not as much.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Beasley’s non-guaranteed contract this offseason. Maybe his defense is less of a problem now but if he is still below average (I thought he was more solid in that regard the 2nd half of last season) I’m not sure he is actually worth 16.5 million on a 1 year deal.

Beasley has been a disaster this season with both Utah and LA. We are well aware of how poorly he defends, so if he's not shooting the lights out, he will always be a net negative, and he had a poor TS% of 53%. And accordingly, the Lakers were outscored by 15.5 points per 100 possessions when he was on the court, and 6.5 with Utah...that's very bad, but not unexpected. It's becoming pretty clear we lost the Rudy trade, but unloading Malik was a great example of addition by subtraction.

This pulled into my Yahoo feed. It's a LA write up of grades from the Play In game. They graded our former Wolves as such:

Vanderbilt: B
Beasley: B
Russell: D+/C-

I think if I would rate our guys from the trade deadline during the last game it would be like:
Conley: A
NAW: B

It's one game. But they answered the bell when it mattered. I hope they can do it again and inspire Edwards to do the same.
