I mentioned it yesterday... but it's almost more surreal the next day...

The Timberwolves composure in the first half was incredible. The game was a clownshow with all the contact allowed... but only the Nuggets fell apart. You could even see it when a guy would get frustrated, a teammate was right there calming him down.

This is a different team.

This is fun.

There was a funny nugget on NBA radio this morning regarding Murray and his antics. Someone said the biggest punishment they could give him was to not eject him and make him bring the ball up against NAW for the rest of the game.
100% guarantee he is suspended. You as the NBA cannot allow players to get away with throwing shit on the court during a game. If he only gets a fine what is to stop the next guy doing it in say the Finals or this becomes a trend? Honestly don't want him suspended but I don't see how he can't be at this point. Plus it was twice, first with a towel which missed and then the heating pad and it was at the official! He couldn't even hit the official never mind a basket last night! He was trying to get thrown out. He had enough of the Wolves defense and called it quits.

Is anybody else taking perverse pleasure in watching Phoenix and Denver sports talk shows the last couple of weeks? My god, watching these fans just throw up their hands and laugh at how bad their teams look against us brings me pure joy. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much.

Here's one from today.

Oh man, watch this and enjoy.

It's obviously a much different level... but the same premise:

- I tell the youth basketball teams I coach that I love overhearing parents and coaches from opposing teams talk about how poorly they played against our team. More often than not, it's insulting. When a team makes many/most teams play worse than normal... maybe THAT team has something to do with it.

- It's usually a physical, defense-first team that gets other teams (and fans) whining about playing poorly.

Jaden McDaniels has 5 points and is a +50 in the two games. What stat matters more?

Well, I’m just one voice, but my go to stat is points per game…2.5 PPG is a disgrace. And I’m tired of finchie rolling out other meaningless stats in his post gamers to defend him. Jaden should be replaced in the rotation by Leonard Miller if we have any intention of winning this series.

It's funny you bring this up, Drew. I usually listen to a local podcast (Dane Moore, Brit Robson, etc.) when I'm in the gym. But today I put on a Denver podcast (Loser's Lounge) while I was there. A lot of praise for the Wolves of course, and a lot of gallows humor. But what surprised me most is they are pinning the loss on Joker. They say he has been uninspired the entire playoffs, and that has rubbed off on his teammates.

I guess I'm not buying that take. I'm giving more credit to the Wolves than I am criticizing the Nuggets. I think we punched them in the gut and took all the fight out of them. Tomorrow in the gym I'm going to listen to the same Nuggets guys, but listen to a pre-series pod instead. I suspect the nature of it will be substantially different.
