If you think the officiating has been equal (of course it hasn't), Ant and Jaden have driven to the basket for shots a collective 74 times and the result has been 4 free throws.
That's insane. No one can objectively say they've only been fouled between 2-4 times out of 74 with how physical LA has openly been.
Well, they have certainly been fouled more than that, but the officials simply aren't calling everything.
That being said, last night was the perfect chance for the refs to tip the scales given how close the game was, yet it's Laker fans that thought they got screwed on that late foul call on Ant that was reversed after Finch challenged it. And how the heck could they allow Randle to get 10 free throw attempts if the Lakers are supposed to win!?!
I still maintain the officials are biased toward players and that bias travels with the players, not the team. LeBron and Doncic are getting a generous whistle regardless of which jersey they wear. As for Ant, he's always struggled getting calls on his drives for some reason...almost too strong for his own good since he just powers through a lot of contact and doesn't do the SGA head-snap.

So you believe if Ant and Jaden played for LA, they would have been rewarded with the same 4 FT attempts? I have to say I can't understand that perspective. I've been watching this league for 55 years. When Larry Bird and Magic came into the league in the early 80's things changed. Portland, Seattle, and Baltimore had won the last three championships. Another small-mid market team wouldn't win a championship again until 1999. Nope it wasn't the players, it was the markets. The popularity of the league was built on it. It doesn't happen to the same degree today, but 4 FT's on 74 drives can't be brushed off. Let's be honest.

I didn't brush off the 4 FTs on 74 drives. I agree there are probably fouls going uncalled among those 74 drives. But I also think there are all sorts of uncalled fouls in the playoffs given the increased physicality that is allowed. Ant has always had issues getting those calls on drives.
By the same token, you are seemingly brushing off Randle 10 FTAs, which tied the most he's ever taken in his playoff career. How could the refs allow that if they are supposed to favor the Lakers? And he's kind of an easy guy to pick on since he isn't one of the league darlings. You also brushed off the fact that the refs had a great opportunity to deny the Finch challenge, which I thought could have gone either way. Yet the call went in the Wolves' favor. Why didn't the refs tip the scales in LA's favor during crunch time???
While I won't disagree that the NBA is largely built on bigger markets and that certain players get a ton of rope with the refs (LeBron and Doncic included), that doesn't mean they are stacking the deck in those markets' favor. I think Knicks fans would love to hear more from you on this theory!

During the regular season Ant averaged 6.3 FTA per game, 9th best in the league. In this series he has 6 despite consistently attacking the basket. If it's about players, why has this occurred?
I don't think it's been terribly one-sided in favor of the Lakers as of yet. But I also believe the big market Lakers advantage is so embedded in the fiber of the league that people don't see it for what it really is. If it could be judged in a vacuum and without any bias, it would be much easier to see. As fans we're simply too used to it.
