Namibia Vibes - Lakers at Wolves GDT
Namibia Vibes - Lakers at Wolves GDT
Sending good vibes from Namibia for a Wolves win tonight! Well, early morning for me…
Re: Namibia Vibes - Lakers at Wolves GDT
If you've been following along, Tim's posts have alluded to a multiple weeks long trip he's been on, mostly in Asia and Africa. I don't think my body could take that much travel, new cuisine, and time zone changes! But it sounds quite epic.
I had a quick trip to Minnesota and back earlier this week. Just that knocked me down a couple of notches!
Re: Namibia Vibes - Lakers at Wolves GDT
I have a feeling this series is going to go 7 games. As much as I'd love to believe we will win both home games, I don't see it happening given our recent history last playoffs and in the regular season. We just aren't a great home team.

Thanks Q for helping me catch up.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 2:21 pmIf you've been following along, Tim's posts have alluded to a multiple weeks long trip he's been on, mostly in Asia and Africa. Yeah I know what you mean I don't bounce back as quick as I used to that's for sure. Morroco was tough on me last year. I'm taking a break from international travel for a while. I'm hoping to do more domestic travel there is so much I haven't seen here in the US.

Very cool trip, Tim...and thanks for teeing up the GDT! If I have my time zones correct, it's a 3:30 AM tipoff for you!
In the Game 2 thread, I listed all the reasons I thought we would lose that game. Today I'm going to list all the reasons we're going to win tonight:
1) I talked about how difficult it is to play in LA...WAY too many distractions. That's one of the reasons the Lakers were 31-10 at home this season. In contrast, they were 19-22 on the road. Now the Wolves are not a great home team, but they're a much better home team than LA is a road team.
2) The Lakers are going to be in Minnesota for almost a week, and as much as we think they should love it, Minneapolis is not considered a glamorous destination for NBA players...especially not for so many nights. We think April weather is just fine, but I don't think the Lakers liked arriving in that cold rain yesterday. And temps are going to dip down into the 30s tonight and perhaps a couple other nights while they are here. I suspect they are not very happy being here for so long, and that saltiness may impact their play.
3) The Wolves shot the heck out of the ball in Game 1, and I expressed my concern they might revert to the mean in Game 2. Well, they went way past the mean, and had a terrible shooting game. Still, they only lost by 9 points. Bring those shooting percentages back up to the mean tonight, and we will win.
4) While our offense has been inconsistent in the first two games, our defense has not. Before this series the Lakers with both Luka and Lebron playing had only been held under 100 once all season, and we did it in back to back games. Luka (and maybe JJ) has been so focused on getting Rudy on an island, and it's taken him away from his normal brilliance at times. And Rudy for the most part has answered the challenge. Hold them under 100 again, and we take a 2-1 lead in the series.
5) Finally, if you read the Laker message boards, they think Lebron's groin is affecting him. Even when healthy, he's not the player he was in his prime, but an injured Lebron is a liability on defense. I think Finchie will find ways to target him. (I know...targeting one of the top 3 players of all time sounds weird. But this is not prime Lebron.)
All that said, I'm not anticipating a blowout. These two teams only finished a game apart in the standings, and they look pretty evenly matched to me. Game 3 is usually pivotal, so the Lakers are not going to roll over. I still think we win by 5 or 6 though.

Re: Namibia Vibes - Lakers at Wolves GDT
Tony brothers heads up the ref crew tonight, and nobody’s happy. He calls more fouls than any other ref, so that’s not good for the more physical Wolves. I also can’t forget his terrible reffing in one playoff game last season against Dallas. I guess I take some solace in the fact it was slomo who was mostly in his face, and got thrown out I think.
But it actually might be good news, because both LeBron and Luka have had recent issues with brothers. Remember LeBron screaming at him postgame in our NYE game trying to convince him his 2 was a 3. And more recently, brothers threw Luka out for allegedly swearing at him…although Luka says he was actually talking to a fan.
So we wanted a playoff game, but instead we’re getting the Brothers Show.

Do you think if they shoot Jaden as he attacks the basket he could go to the free throw line lol
Re: Namibia Vibes - Lakers at Wolves GDT
Finally a good start. Hopefully the start of a complete game.
Re: Namibia Vibes - Lakers at Wolves GDT
I didn't think the Lakers had it in them to bring on the defensive intensity we saw in game 2. As long as we can mostly contain them and don't shoot ourselves in the foot (big if), I'm hoping we get this first one at home.
