I would think KD opts in. I think Klay stays. Will Cousins have any value around the league?
I'm certain Klay will re-sign with the Warriors. I was certain of that before his injury. I suspect that Durant was incline to sign elsewhere. But I think his injury will change his mind and that now he'll resign with the Warriors. Why? Because I think Kevin prefers comfort over challenge. Even though I think he wanted to go elsewhere to take a shot at proving his doubters wrong, his injury will make him feel more vulnerable and trigger his natural tendency to take the less challenging path. And of course, he'll make more money re-signing with the Warriors.

It's worth remembering Durant took less money 2 years in a row as a favor to the Warriors ownership saving them an absolutely massive pile of money. If they pay him more money he in some ways he deserves it. I do think this injury may make him more likely to stay with the Warriors at least another year. Regardless of Durant's want to get paid like other have said teams will line up to do it especially after what they just saw Kawhi do with the Raptors.
Like you said I would be pretty shocked if Klay doesn't come back...so watch him sign with the Clippers. Lol

The injuries are gonna keep Klay and KD in GS and we're just gonna have to deal with the super team again in two years rather than 1. Losing the finals that way with guys going down hard and having Toronto barely squeak out the victory is probably going to bring them closer together as a team. It's one thing to leave after you've just 3 peated and want to forge your own path. Now you've got to wait a year before you can even play so why go to another unknown situation? Who knows what the Knicks or Nets or Clippers or Lakers will look like 2 years out when you can actually make your run?

The question is, Can GSW really MAX out Clay and KD and Draymond (after next year) too? Would they be paying like 70 million in Lux Tax? IDK, just saying. I imagine one will for sure have to leave.
I also think that there is a slight risk that KD doesn't make it back very well, in that situation he may be leaving big money on the table. I think the safe play is to take the long max contract now because of the uncertainty (if a team or teams are willing to gamble like I think they would).

DeMarcus Cousins is a curse.
This would have been a sweep if it wasn't for his play in a couple games. And yes he was bad in 2 other games. Should they have signed someone else instead? Fair question. Maybe they should have brought in another Nick Young? Lol also worth remembering Durant took less money so GS could save a boat load of lux tax money to resign Iggy and then Cousins this year.
I wouldn't get too caught up in a few buckets. Lowry torched him in Game 5. I think he's a classic "do enough unnecessary things to lose" type of guy. He takes a lot of things off the table, enough to offset a lot of the good things... if you want to win consistently.
I honestly hate watching him play. He's a guy who'll never figure it out.

You're not alone. The offseason is catching up to the actual season for NBA fans.
Unfortunately.
[Note: This soapbox of mine just keeps getting higher, apparently.]

There's already news of the Warriors going to offer full maxes to both Klay and KD. Also a huge tax bill doesn't really make a dent in Silicon Valley and you get an extra 10-12 home games every year to help cover those costs. If you have to pick one out of Steph, Klay, KD and Draymond (which I don't think they do given their market) to leave the easy answer is Draymond. It's much easier to surround 3 prolific scorers and 2 great defenders with the right pieces than 2 prolific scorers and 2 great defenders.

I think KD will either opt in to the last year of his contract or resign with the Warriors. Klay does the same. They make the playoff next years as a lower seed and hope to get one or both back to make a competitive push. Then they target a championship 2020/21.
Irving and Butler will sign with Brooklyn. Demarcus Cousins will sign with the Knicks. Tobias Harris will resign with the 76ers. DLo will sign with the Indiana Placers. AD ends up at the Lakers.
The West will be more open than it has been in years.

Wow, tragic injuries, but great series after a great playoffs, especially that second round.
There's so much to talk about. With all these free agency questions, the impending AD trade, teams like Houston and (surprisingly) Boston that seem to be at a crossroads, and injuries, the future seems wide open in the league. But let's take a second and focus on what's really important right now: this detail from the postgame celebration.
"Marc Gasol, acquired in a midseason trade with the Memphis Grizzlies, video chatted on his cellphone with his former teammate Mike Conley while pounding a can of Budweiser. "

The question for this series when Cousins played well offensively was how he compared to the other guys that would have played instead. Defensively...Lowry was beating Loney too in those games. I sorta agree with your overall take to some extent about Cousins he won't ever figure it out...because the guy is really talented. He is obviously sort of a maddening player. I tend to give him more of the benefit of that doubt in some ways. You don't because he is maddening guy in so many ways which is a completely fair position. I think we probably see his actual value pretty similarly though. I thought at the time he was drafted he was maybe the most talented player in that draft which i think I still stand by that take at the time despite Paul George being the best player at this point. My thing was I didn't think he had the mental makeup to be THE guy. He needed to have guys better than him on his team. He couldn't be the leader. I don't think he is a bad dude he just can't get out of his own way. I'm not suggesting he would be REALLY different but being drafted and playing all those early years with the Kings likely didn't help. I wonder if anyone pays him enough money that he even considers leaving GS if they want him back. He isn't a role player. You have to make him somewhat of a priority if he is gonna be out there.
