Wiggins, play like this more often please!
Re: The New Era is starting (Wolves vs Pelicans GDT)
A top 10 win from my perspective. Very good N.O. team. KAT was in beast mode in 1st half. We have players that can spread the floor. Wiggins was asked to more than wait for Butler to get him the ball in the corner.
Fun, tough win!

Im happy to have 3 legit wings that we can put out at any time (rose is a pg).
Id like to see tyus and dieng lose minutes when rose returns, it shouldn't be okogie.

Abe's 1st Late-Night Wolves DVR Recap of the season:
- Jeff Teague. I don't get it. It seems obvious to everyone when he's good/bad Teague. He was all NBA that 1st half. And then... he passed up 6 or 7 open 15 foot jumpers only for the Wolves to get a worse shot. I'd be interested the number of extra dribbles Bad Teague takes vs. Good Teague. Why can't he stay aggressive and keep attacking?
- The Wolves need another creator. Right now, it looks like A LOT of it is going to be put on Wiggins' shoulders. He can get buckets but he rarely sets up anybody else. We'll see how it goes. Aggressive Teague would help so much.
- Saric is a better passer than I realized. But he didn't look comfortable... yet.
- Covington had a very Rob(ert) Covington type game. He's very limited offensively, but I think he'll be a fan favorite. Basically, a much better version of Anthony Peeler!
- Agree with others... Gibson at the 5. Dieng looks lost...
- I thought Jru Holiday played a terrible game. Etwan Moore has made himself into quite the player though. 30 points last game... 31 tonight. He has a bit of poor man's CJ McCollum to his game.
- Wes Johnson sighting! Why? I ask again... WHY?!?!? I remember talking about how he single-handedly lost a game for the Clippers against the Wolves a year or two ago. He's just so "meh" in every conceivable way... even with that kilowatt smile.
- Wes Johnson played 30 minutes. Julius Randle played 14 minutes. Anybody with insight into why?
- KAT disappeared for 2+ quarters after an incredible start. I think that's why it's hard to build around Bigs in today's game. It requires multiple players and actions to get them the ball vs. just giving it to your wing to create. But his defense down the stretch was pretty damn good.
- Good for Wiggins to take things over down the stretch. We've see that before. Hopefully, this time it's here to stay more often than not.
- The Wolves committed 22 fouls... 12 or 13 were called on Anthony Davis. That seemed high...

True on all accounts it seems, however, I think his handle is comparable to where Victor Oladipo's was his senior year at Indiana and even his rookie year. I'd expect that to be a point of focus over the next summer.

I don't know what we will do with dieng moving forward.
We can't dump the ball into him in the post.
We cant really pnr because neither him or tyus are a threat to do anything. And he is really a player who can defend the paint.
Love taj, but he does bog the paint for us unless kat is out to the 3 pt line.
Taj as the back up c and primary post player with the second unit would solve so many oroblems for us.

We have Covington AND Saric!!! Couldn't be happier about this trade. Great game.

Comparing any aspect of Peeler to Covington seems just unfair, even though you qualified it by saying much better. I guess both had a role on Timberwolves teams, but that's where I'd stop the comparisons.

Robson said Randle didn't look ready to play...suggested he should rest up until he is healthy. And in all fairness, Johnson made 2 of his three shots (including a three), had 7 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal, and was a +9. Randle was 1-4 with 3 rebounds and a minus 7. Wes is Wes, but he's a better option than Randle (or anyone else on the Pel's weak bench) at this point.

Re: The New Era is starting (Wolves vs Pelicans GDT)
I was lucky to see the 4th quarter during a layover in Chicago...great finish! The defensive effort was extraordinary, and the offense, while frustrating at time, was effective when it needed to be.
The Pelicans have a terrific starting lineup (although they lack depth) so this was an impressive team win...especially with Rose out and Wig/Teague not at full strength. Thibs was unfortunately back to his old style of ignoring his bench (Josh and Tyus with only a combined 28 minutes despite being a combined +31 due to their disruptive defense), but in all fairness, he can get away with it against a team like the Pels which also overplays it starters...we looked like the far fresher team down the stretch, although that may have been due to the adrenaline rush of post Butler.
2 straight wins without Butler, and only 2 1/2 games out of the playoffs...the season is ON again!
