We should have had an "It's time to move on from Malik Beasley" thread instead of what this thread inevitably turned into. I've thought he was the odd man out for quite some time and drafting the more NBA-ready, two-way wing in Wendell Moore Jr. only further solidified that idea. Not to mention, the already-rostered Jaylen Nowell is plenty capable of taking on a bigger and more consistent role next season. Simply, there's a clearer avenue to replacing Beasley's production -- as well as exceeding it -- than there is D'Angelo Russell's.

Yes. If I'm going to put money down, I'd bet more on Beasley than DLO being traded. In his interview with Horton, Finch made it clear they're looking for two way players. Having said that, he said they are looking to improve their rebounding and Beasley is a very good rebounder at his position. Honestly, I could see the Wolves trading Beasley or DLO (possibly even both) this summer. But if I had to bet, I'd bet Beasley, not DLO, gets dealt. It will be easier to trade Beasley for value and it will be easier to back fill for him with the talent we already have on the roster. I see a Beasley + Naz deal for a veteran big guy or SF.

Moving Dlo is the higher priority for me than moving Beasley, both for Dlo's own sake and for the team's. It'd be a very difficult situation to try to play out Dlo's expiring contract, with him knowing the Wolves don't place the same value on him that he does. He had a very good year last year, but he's not a max player and I expect that he wants a max extension. That's a situation fraught with tension, a potentially massive distraction for a team that's trying to take the next positive step. I could be wrong and everything will be unicorns and rainbows, but I don't think so.

I think you're right, Sundog. Trading DLO should be the higher priority. But I think trading Beasley for fair value would be much easier and it would open up opportunities for our younger SGs, including Nowell, Bolmaro and now Moore, who are stuck in sort of a log jam at that position behind Edwards. On the other hand, I think you're right that the DLO situation will likely be fraught with tension. The Wolves could, of course, trade both.

I'm not advocating for this type of deal but some high priced PGs are quite possibly be moved this offseason. Beasley and or Russell could be salaries/assets to move in one of those deals with the Wolves getting an asset coming back and at worse opening up a spot to sign a FA. This type of deal is only gonna happen if The Russell situation is basically so bad something has to be done. That could happen but that seems a little dramatic. I think Russell might be smart enough to know that if he goes too dramatic it might hurt his chance at earning money on his next contract. Still it could be a mutual thing kinda like Beverly in Houston last year. Beverly valued himself more than Houston and so they agreed to land him somewhere. That was a easier at less than half as much money AND a lesser role. To move Russell the Wolves need to have a backup plan. Maybe they already do. I'm started to get more of the feeing that there is something more to this Russell possibly being moved. It still feels weird that if that was the case they didn't draft a guy...well except Moore could be that guy next to Edwards eventually. We will likely find out soon enough.

But looking at the Knicks - Fournier and Noel works, but that's 3 years of Fournier (could be flippable next year, though... still a valuable player on a not altogether terrible contract) and 2 years of Noel, total of $25 million/yr for 2 years, $8 million in the 3rd if both play out their contracts. I guess I'd do that.

Pacers -- Myles Turner/TJ McConnell works, but I don't know what they might want to do if they move Brogdon.

But my fav deal is probably trade expirings with Cleveland -- Kevin Love for Dlo.

I'd consider doing the DLO for Love deal if I was sure we could sign Tyus as a free agent.

Agreed I would consider this deal/scenario as well. FWIW Love and The Cavs seem to mutually like having each other around. They are still pretty loaded in the front court but I don't really think the Cavs would do this deal.

Need a third team. Bring in the Knicks:

Wolves get Love
Knicks get DLO
Cavs get Rose & Fournier (frees up lots of cap room next summer)

Not the worst post I've ever read. Lets break it down.
Posts - KAT/KL/JV/WK/NR/(Prince or Monroe or Knight) - My choice would be Prince on a VetMin deal because of his versatility. One of the better One-thru-Six groups in the league. Championship caliber.
Wings - AE/JMD/MB/WMJ/LB/JN - The hope here for me is that JMD/WMJ/LB have REALLY strong training camps so MIN can package MB/TheirMLEsigning/picks for wing or point help.
Points - PB/JML - Wow. This is where MIN could spend their MLE. Tyus? Blonde Ricky? Or should they do something before 7/1 for MB/TradeExcep/Picks and then use the MLE on a Wing? And shoutout to Kahn/Flip/whoever's idea it was to get Blonde Ricky for James Johnson for recognizing Tyus and Blonde Ricky's, um, "greatness".

FWIW It would be a lot easier to read your posts if you could actually write out the players instead of just initials.

lol. What, you can't memorize 15 names?

I've been wanting to pay you a complement for a few weeks now. Just like rewatching "The Godfather" or relistening to "Nevermind", but for very different reasons, I decided to reread the 2020 NFL Draft thread during rounds four thru seven of the '22 draft. Again, a "masterpiece". If Al Gore would have known that that is what the internet was going to be used for, he never would have bothered. Funny story: Everyone except, you, Kahns, and Graycat DELETED their comments. If I would have known that's how people on this board roll, I would have "quoted" each of the "really good" comments, or better yet, printed a hardcopy and scanned to a flashdrive and "paperclipped" it whenever one of the "Doctors" involved had another "contribution" about some other sports (or, gulp, nonsports) topic. I mean "all of the SEC corners sucked this year"?!!? To quote Dave Chapelle: "Really? All of them?" I don't say it so you go and delete yours. Your comments were for the most part even-keel. I just think it's cool that it never crossed your mind. I would like to think that I wouldn't have deleted mine, but it's been a long time since I've been THAT wrong about something, so who knows.

That being said, if you have any comments on the "OT America" thread that tend to go along with the vibe, I would lose those. I'm not going to reread it because I could feel my soul dying the one time I did read. I wouldn't want anyone to know that that is how I felt. A man being choked to death over a (real or counterfeit) $20 bill is way worse than the Vikings losing a road playoff game (Which was totally Spielmann's fault. Zimmer, you and your super-cool son were in no way responsible.).

Keep up the good work.

Uh, yeah. At the risk of sounding disrespectful, if MIN doesn't get DLO's replacement in the trade, there is NO WAY they can go into the season with Bev/McLaughlin/(Non-Tyus or Ricky) FA as their Point Guard group and call themselves a contender. So then you look at the rest of the roster who jumps out? Beasley and Beverly.

I guess since you asked me a question I'll ask one too. Can't you type out a few more letters? That's not hard either right? Some of the time you add additional letters that don't make sense at first if you haven't ever read them in that context. It's up to you what you want to do I'm just saying that typing out makes or at least some nickname like DLO would be easier to read.

I can work on that. Sometimes I'm rushing because I want to go accomplish something. Maybe I need to be like "You know what? Maybe everyone will survive until I can take a full minute to get my point across."
